THE THIRTEENTH 1WTING OF THE COUNCIL FOR THE YEAJf 1939 was held in the Council room on °aturday eve.June 3rd. 1ne menibers present were Mayor elect J.M..Walton.~ep.Reeve Fa.rr,Councillors Henderson Sparks· Stuart and Wils.on. T.b.e mayor elect presented to the Corporation office a morocco bound copy of the Scriptures,imprinted on the cover· in gold, 11 The Town of Aurora 0 1939 1~and inscribed on the fly leaf in an illumina.ted border were The words,"presented to the Oorpor• ation of the Town of Aurora. by J .M.Wal.ton,Mayor 1939.11 Th~ Sacred Volume will be retained by the clerk and on it in futmre all councils and officials of the muni• cipalitywill be sworn on assuming office. The new Clerk-Treasurer,Cedric Ae'l//illis,was duly inducted into his office,the statutory oa.th of office being administered by the mayor. The surety bond of the clerk treasurer in the sum. of $5ooo.oo by the Guardian Assurance Co.was tendered and approved. 2. 'l'he Clerk introduced the council to Mr.Walton ,~or elect,and declared him dul~ elected to his office. 1.. MT.Walton the newly elected mayor was sworn into office by the town clerk. The Auditor was instructed to report on the form and sufficiency of the bond in due course. The clerk was instructed to serve the usual. certificates of election on the banks and other bodies requiring the same,for purposes of town business• STUART WILSON that Mr.;r.M.Walton,Mayor,and Mr.C.Willis,Clerk and treasurer be hereby authorised to sign all. cheques and transact all other business that may be I within the compass of their offices,and that the seal of the corporation be attached hereto • Carried• Communications were received fromMr.Walsh,Uounsel for the town who had been acting for the town in the Vfuitmore-Aurora case asking $8??.79 for his services, The account was held over to the next meeting for considera.tion The Dehydration Process Ltd.through their solicitor wrote the council requesting a deed of the property used by them to convey to them the Match ]'actory Property.The council will investigate this situation and demand,and it will be the subject of a report at the next meeting. Uouncillor Henderson spoke on the meeting to be held in Aurora on Monday "une 12.th in connection with the widening of Yonge st.below Richmond Hill and made a motion seconded by Mr.Wilson that the council attend in a. bodyo. . f '\ •. -_,_i 2 ll!J:r.Evans appeared before counci~ and asked that a block on Wells S"•opposite the town park be closed off for the date of the Horse Show which upon motion was unanimously agreed to• Council~or Stuart moved adjournment a.t 9.15 P.M • Mayor.
