Aurora Football Club,thanking the Council and officials for their cooperation in making· a success of their street dance.James Proctor and Redfern regarding the work to be done by Mr.Taylor.Jifr.Relflfernal and Mr.Taylor were present and an insp- ection trip was arrang·ed for Wed.Sune 7th.at 9.W.H.Chapman,notifying the town that the Corporation will be held responsible for the loose stone on the walk in front of the Imp.Oil Stn.which caused a serious accident to his wife.Building Repairs and Alterations Ltd.quoting the sum of $46.00 for coating the contrete base of tank and $63.00 for a third coat of paint •. J .A.Ellis regarding the delay in paying our relief accounts for March and April,and requesting that we send one or more delegates to a conference in Whitby on 8th.lnst • .. :3 AUrora. ··orse and :Pure Erect Stock Show,asking for the use of the Park on 17th. On verbal motion this request was granteci.The Town of Mimico,in reply to enquiry sta.ting that they are unable to find any method of taxing or licencing the large bread companies or similar sales methods;The Dept.of Municipal Affa.irs stating our Auditors had not forwardeci their report,an~ any money coming to the town would be held up until the rec.eipt of same.The S .. Army asking for use of park on Sun.eve. June 18th.and permission to erect a temporary notice outside the gate.~ermission was granted.The Clerk of King Tp.forwarding agreements to be signed regarding fire protection in a designated area.Referred to solicitor for redrafting.Alb. Taylor and twelve others asking for an improved gravel road,as laid down by the Storms Construction Co.on Larmont St.from Wellington to Mosley Sts.at a cost of approximately 1.00 per foot on the local improvement plan,one third charged to each side of the street properties and the remaining third to the Corporation. Certified as to. suffic.iency by hhe Clerk. The "'nciustrial Committee reported on their efforts to loco>.te an industry, in cooperation with Mr.J.R.L.Patterson,president of the Company owning the vacant factory. :Mr.w.E.Taylor asked that the holdback on his contracts be paid and a bond substituted for performance of the remaining portion of his work. Mr.Redfernreported on the difficulties met in connection with the of the 2 ew:e:eage system,and their proposals to solve them,and the Council ag:eeed to await their endeavors to overcome the obstacles. Mr.DeLaRaye,bandmaster asked for the grant and also that the Council would su:i;>ply three tunics for members. 'J!he Clerk was instructed,verbally to notify Mr.w.E.Taylor that no further payment would be forthcoming until his work has been satisfactorily completed, when further consideration will be given to his request. LEGGE BLAY,that Mr.F.Dunham be authorised to inspect the sewerage disposal and screening arrangements from the tannery at his pleasure or when he finds it necessary. Carried. KNOWLES LEGGE that the Bandmaster of the Aurora Citizens Band be requested to secure prices for three band tunics and submit the same at the next meeting of Council. Carried. KNOWLES DELARAYE that the town relief Committee be authorised to appoint a delegate to the conference on municipal direct relief of 'the Province of "nt. ~ ,,_.,.,.. ·---·--·--··· 4 to be held at the town of Vlhitby on Thurs.June 8th.and that the expenses of the same be borne b;t the town.and that the seal of the Corp.be attached hereto. The Property Co!Dllli ttee,~r.ilia lloy -chairman,reported as follows ;.we have sec- j:" ured 60(} trees from the government consisting of Iiaple,hard and soft,:S:lm,Scotch White and Norway pines 0 white cedar and have planted them on the grounds at the plant.These trees with care will soon be large enough to plant out on new· streets and also replace old trees cut down,thereby keeping Aurora beautiful with shade trees for which our town is already proud.We have also secured 250 young grow;. ing trees 0 Cedar and Maple,and have planted them around the plant.·•ie find that the disposal plant is still very unsatisfactory and would reco!Dlllend that the Council take definite st.eps at this meeting to have something done.· e feel that seven months is quite long enough for our engineers to have the plant in a per- fect. working condition according to the agreement. In reference to the w.w.Property we have had the veranda roof reshingled• and the kitchen roof repaired.This was done by men on relief.Mr.Langman informs us that the roof over the engine room which was reported leaking has tightened up and therefore requires no i!Dlllediate attention.We have had the grass mowed in the town park and the rubbish .cleared away from around the outside of same. The report was verbally adopted. BLAX MALLOY that the contractors to whom the tender was let covering the painting of the watertank be approached regarding the cost of a proposed third coat of paint for the tank,with an endeavor to obtain the lowest price for this work .we suggest that the price of ~63.99 is too high inasmuch as this third coat being required is partly due to the manner in which the first two coats were put on and that the Committee be authorised to make a decision in this matter,and the seal of the Corp.be attached hereto. BLAY MALLOY that a cheque be issued in t.he amount of $50.00 covering the grant for this amount as authorised by this Council under date of Jan.l6th.l933 to the Band0 and the seal of the Corp.be attached hereto. Carried. KNOWLES STUART,that the York Kennel Club be granted the privelege of having the use of the town park for a champions~p dog show to be held in Aurora,Aug. 19th.admission general 25 cents. Deputy Reeve ifuo:.Vies to bring to the attention of County Council at their meet- .. - ing on June. 6th.l933 the fact that only twelve hundred dol ars has been received on account of High Schoo~ grant and we fee~ that inasmuch as the town of Aurora hJ 0 I . -I has paid the county levy in ful~ on or before the due date that we are entitled 1 ' to receive the ba~ance of this grant in full in the near future and that we should not be treated on the same basis as municipalities who did not pay their levy when due .we would also suggest that interest be paid the town of Aurora on the unpaid balance of lhhis grant as from April 15th.l933.
