" Finance Colllrnittees-reported that they had met on 'l'ied.:E:ve.and ac::ain this afternoon but h<3.d not completed the report,to date and asked permission to defer the sub- misaion of their report .. hlessrs.:DELAHAYE,3unn and Jiegge,the .!!'ire Comm.reported that the Fire Brigade ask that all d;n~.tions of twenty :five dollars and under for fires occuring out- side the to;Nn go to the Brigade and all aver that sum be cJ.ivided evenly with the town,and they recommend accordingly. The Finance Committee,lit!essrs.Blay·Legge and Stuart submitted the following report,with the Council im Committee of whoilie,llfr.Blo.y presiding; "That the 1'own Clerk write to il'l:r.McEown,oft'ering him twenty five dollars for the sign now erected on Yonge st.s.with o.n additional offer of five dollars for reconstruction of the sign as outlined tothis Committee by Mr.UcEown,and if this offer is not acceptable,to advise Mr.Mc}Yown to remove the sign,and thank hLm fo:t his cooperation in this matter .. Bridge .Committee ,Messrs .Legge Matloy and DeLaJ'Iaye submitted the following rerort,the Council in Committee of the whole,Mr.Legge in chair; "Ad re~uested by Council y:)ur Committee called for tenders for the town teaming for the year 1933.and have awarded the teaming to Jas._Black at 65 cents per hour and three dollars per load of 1} yards road gravel. Committee rose. STUART ,BUNN, tha.t the report of the R.& .B .committee lJe received and adopted and that-the seal of the Corporattiwn "be attached thereto. Carried. The comparative statement of· receipts and expenditures-for the two months of the present year prepared by the Treasurer was presented. The Bylaws Comrnittee,Messrs.J3unn Knowles and J3lay,submitted the following report, the Counc.il in Committee ,Mr .Bunn in the chiJ,ir; ""ith. regards to meat Bylaw mentioned at the last Council meeting,by Deputy . Heeve Knowles,our town solicitor assures us that the Bylaw of Peb.l5th.l932 takes care of all hawkers and pedlers and he can find no other law as regards meat. With regards to drain on Centre St.would advise that copies of our solicitors ruling be sent to members of the deputation,namely Messrs.Griffith,Stephenson Cockerill a.'1d Williamson.Solici tors ruling is as follows; "The agreement with the owners on Centre St.was that if anyone connected with the drain in future,the connecting should pay his proportional amount of the cost.The drain has now been chant>ed by the town to a sev1.er and the connection by Mr.Rowland was with the swwer and not with the drain.Under the circumstances there should be no payment made to the owners. Council resumed-! DEL.AHAYE,IiPJ..LOY, that the Council recei~ and adopt the report of the Byla·;;s Committee Carried. The w.w.comm,Mr.Stuart chairman reported the electric pump repaired.Price of gasoline engine and tank painting will be ready for the next meeting. The E.L.Committee,Messrs.Knowles Stuart and uunn submitted the following report,Counoil in Committee,Mr.Knowles in chair, .-.... ,.,-._.-. r I I ', -~-... - 5 ""That all electric light consumers who are in arrears of electric light or power must pay for their present month..1.y consumption and an equs.l amount of their arrears each month untj_l the arrears are paid in full.'l'hat on all arrears of electric light accounts of fifty dollars or over a minimum of fi:!i'e dollars per ·month must 'be paid as well as the present monthly consumption.That electric meters be inst:).lled. at once in the homes of all salaried town officials,namely Mr.Andrews Jlfr.Dunham,Mr.Walker and Mr.Langman. Council resumed. STUilli.T;DELAHAYE,tl!at the report-of the E.L.Cormnittee be received and a.d.- o:pted..That-consUm.ers 'in arrears •,vho fail to comply ·;c.ith this resolution within thirty days that their electric l>ower be cut off.The.t a charge of fifty cents be made for reconnecting where the meaning of this Bylaw has been carried out,and that the seal of the Corporation 'be attached thereto. Carried. Mr.l~lloy presented and read a letter from Mr.T.J.Rice asking that an elm thee be removed or trimrned.'l'his matter was referred to.the R.&.3.Committee. Mr.Blay reported on behalf of the Industrial Committee tha.t a sm8.11 ind- ustry is ready to locate here if local capital can be interested in theenterprise. BLAY,STUALi.T,that the Clerk write to Messrs.James Proctor and RecJ_fern,ack- nowledging receipt of 'bond forwarded -by them, taken out by IV!r. W .E.Taylor regarding balance unpaid on. sewers,and advise them that we,in holding this bond in our poss- essi.on,assume no responsibility for this bond until such time that the matter has been dealt with by this Council. Carried. The Mayor requested the R.&.B.Committee to take steps to safeguard the smaller children ,,,rho are compelled to cross non-stop streets going to and from 'school. The Chairman of the R.&.B .I!Tollllni ttee read the report from IV!r.Langman on the gasoline used during the previous month .. On motion of Messrs.Legge and DEL1L~~Ye the Council adjourned at 11.15.
