MINUTES - Council - 19321205The EIGHTEENTH MEETING of the Council for the year 1932 was held in the Council Chamber on Monday eve.Dec.5th.with the Mayor presiding and all the mem- bers in attendance. The minutes pf the preceding meeting were read and adopted. Drs.Williams and Devins addressed the Co8ncil on behalf of the County Med-. ical Association. M:r.w.w.Baldwin appeared on behalf of the Aurora Horse and Pur,e Bread Stock Show to ask for the grant for the present year~1932. A letter was read from the Royal Black Preceptory,thanking the town for their interest in the annual convention and stating that the celebration of Aug. 12th.would not be held here in 1933 but they had the promise of support for 1934. The annaul report of the M.o.H.,Dr.Stevenson was tabled. A BY'I.AW was introduced by Mr.Legge,to renew the agreement with the H.:E.P.c. successors to the Toronto and Yory Radial Ry.Co.for the purchase of electric light and power for a further'term of five years.and was given its first reading. BILBROUGH,DELAHAYE,that the Bylaw now before the Council be rea~ a second time this day,and that rule 33 of Bylaw $10 be suspended for that purpose. Carried. The Bylaw was given ita second reading in Committee,Dr.Boulding in the chair. Committee rose and reported the Bylaw having passed its second reading. A Bylaw was introduced by Mr.Bilbrough,to provide for taking the vote of the property owners at the forthcoming municipal election on the above Bylaw;and given its first reading,second in Committee ,in regular and legal form,Mr.Knowles in the chair ;l.a-Ga-,its third reading and declared passed,signed and sealed,. A Bylaw was introduced by Dr.Boulding,to provide for a loan of seven thous- and dolla.rs,from the Electric .Loight Acaount,on the security of a first mortgage on a two hundred acre farm in the County of Perth,and assets of a manufacturing company to be established here,given its first,second and third readings in and legal form,Dr • .l;oulding in the chair in Committee,and signed and sealed. A Bylaw was imtl!loduced by Mr.Knowles 0 to provide for the nomination of candidates to fill the offices of Mayor.Heeve,.Ueputy "eeve,five Councillors and three p.s.trustees,on Friday Dec.23rd.at 7.30,and to hold the election,if nee• essa.ry,on Monday .Tan.2nd.,given its first,second in Committee,Dr.Boulding in the chair,and third readings regularly and legally,a.nd was declared passed and signed. KNOvv.LES,BILBROUGH,that the Aurora Pure Bred Horse and Stock Show be given their usual grant for 1932,of one hundred dollars,and that the seal of the Corp. be attached to this resolution. Carried. ~ LEGGE STUART, that the Counc:i~ go on . record as endorsing the spirit of t .. e reso~ution of the Committee of the Yory County. Medica~ Society regarding the prob~em of the care of indigent and near indigent medica~ cases,which the Committee is presenting to the York County Medica~ Society. Carried. Some instances of conditions needing attention were cited and were ref8EE to the Road and Bridge Committee for correction,if necessary. The question of providing some work for very worthy and needy cases was considered at length,and three or four small jobs agreed upon.
