to secure a coilJJllU.ters service on the C .u .R.:·Lessrs .Bowman,Cox,and Walton.
Communications-were read and tabled from the following sources; J.Moynihan
c:.:r)plying for water ;~etailed cost of the i\fain to Mr.Vfni te' s property , showing the
total cost to be $2168.26;the :principal of the Public School asking for the reser-
vat.ion of the arena for Ocit.31.st.;W.l\f.Snyder,Clerk of 1\forth :Bay,asking andorsation
for a resolution from his Council asking the Prov.Govt.to pay all charges for the
care of transients;the Ontario lilib.acidlrical Association,offering a speaker at any
time to discuss receny developments in Hydro affairs;James,Proctor and Redfern,
enclosing agreement for signature from the Dept.of Highwaye;,res:pecting the widening
of Yonge pavement recently;.

LEGGE BILBHOUGH, that the 1J:ayor and Clerk be and are hereby instru-
cted and empowered to si~n and execute the agreement received from the Pr.ov.Dept.
of Highways,regarding the receipt from the Dept.of one half the cbst of the pave-
ment on the railway strip on Yonge St.e.nd that the seal of the Corporation be att-
ached to this resolution. Carried.
KNOWL1~S BOULDING,that the Au:tora Poultry and Pet Stock /cssooiation
be granted·the use of the Mechanics Hall for their annual show,to be held on Dec.
rst.2nd.and 3rd.,inclusive,and that the usual rental be charged. Carried, o
BILBHOUGH STUART, that the use of the Jl..rena for the evening of Oct.
3lst.be granted,free of charge,to the Public dchool,for the regular demonstrat-
ion which they are accustomed to hold on that evening. Carried.
BOULDilifG DELli.F.A.YE,whereas a canvas of the residents of the to>ms of
Newmarket and Aurora,and the Village of King,h2.s proven that there are more the,n
one hundred people,living in or adjacent to those three municipalities,served by
the stations on the €Ianadian National Railway bearing the above mentioned names,
who travel back and forth to Toronto,daily,for business or study purposes;and wher
eas nearly all of them have expressed their readiness to patronise the Canadian
National Railway for such transportation,if a service is provided and rates are
made pr011ortiona:te to those afforded Oakville and points similarly situated;and
whereas the growth e,nd expansion of the tovms and villages situated on the Uort-
hern Division of the C?N.R.within thirty m<iles of 1'oronto,is largely dependent
upon such service and rates; therefore the Council of the Municipality of Aurora
endorses the petition of such commuters that the C.N.R.be requested to provide
such rates for commuters by the month as are ·provided for the towns and villages
,similarly situated as to distance on other lines of their system, and a service
that will ensure the arrival in Toronto by 8.30 A.ld.,and the departure from the
oity at or about 5.30 P.l'JI •• Carried.

A.fter discussion,e.n amendment was moved by l!r,Knowles,seconded. by Mr.
Dei.2Jiaye that the resolution be a:mend.ed by strildng out the the words "forty per
cent of the gross receipt" and substituting therefore the words" thirty five per
cent of the gross receipt".Upon the yeas and nays being dem.anded by l.!!r.Bilbrough
the vote on the amendment was recorded as follows,yeas,the lls.y:or,Reeve,.iJeputy
Reeve,Dr.Boulding ,lltr•DeLaHa.ye and l'11:r.Southwood;nays l:lr.Bilbrough and l.!!r.Stuart.
The amendment was decla:red carried.;after which the motion with the 35% substit-
uted for the forty % was declared carried.
The E.I,.Committee,Uessrs.Knowles,Stuart and Boulding reported as follows;
That lights be placed on the following locations;Tyler St.second last pole west;
and on pole opposite the house of Mr. Warcl.;Kenne.ciy St .on second and thircl. trans-
former poles;l'iache1H Ave.on first and third poles north of Wellington St,lilark St.
on second pole east of Yonge ancl. on Spruce St. corner; two on Edward St .extension
between IVfetcalf and Harrison;including poles ;two on Centre St.west of Wells St.
extension;two flood lights on the arena pa.rlcing area,and that numerous trees be
trimmed.
