THE FIRST l1!1E!!lTING OF THE COUNCIL FOR THE YEAR 1931 was held in the Coun-
ciJ. Chamber· on Monday MoPning lran.iath..at 11 o•Clock.l'roceedings were begun with
the singing of the National Anthem,after which the members subscribed to the

After the proper introduction, the Rev .. c .o .Ligh tbourne invoked the Divine
Blessing ..
The retiring Mayor,Mr.P.M.Thompson,being called upon,addressed the Council
in a few well chosen remarks.·
The Mayor outlined our position and the wcilrk before us,after which he
, upon the members of Council and each responded tn an interesting manner.

which,after discussion was referred to the police.
BOUJ"UING,KNOWLES,that the Connnittce in charge of the arena.,be instructed'
to hire a mamager to have charge of the arena,his duties to be outlined by
the Collllll.ittee and all matters of policy decided by such Collllll.ittee. Carried •
Considerable discussion was indulged into,regarding the w.W.extension
to afford some work for the unemployed, e.fter which the matter was left in·
the hands of the 11 aterworks Committee.
TJ::e Council adjourned to meet at the call of the Mayor-,on motion of
Messrs.~egge and Knowles.
