MINUTES - Council - 19280514~"' EIGHTH MEETING OF THE COUNCIL The eighth Meeting of the Council for the year I9:?.8 was held in the Council Room on Monday eve.May I4th.at S.P.M.;the Mayor occupying the chair,and the Members in attendance being the Reeve,Deputy Reeve,and Councillors Boulding, Knowles .Southwood and Underhill. The Minutes of the previous Meeting were read and approved. The following applications were granted; for water,Messrs Badger, VanLuven and Porter; for building per.mit,Mr.A.Mitchell. Communications were received and read as follows; R.Edwards and Ali.brey Fleury,applying for the position of' Constable as advert- ised. J.T.Bond and eleven others,petitioning for an amendment to the Wednesday afternoon closing Bylaw; w.R.Mc~uade and twenty three others,petitioning for a pavement on Tyler st. 1\fr.Fraser addressed the Council regarding the situation existing relative to the Positive Clutch and Pulley Works. l\fr'.W.J.Sisman,supported by two Engineers,Messrs.Miller and Baker,asked that l the proposed Waterworks improvement scheme be enlarged,in order to afford grea:te~ pressure and fire protection,at an estimated outlay of about forty five thousand j Dollars. MOved by Mr.Ca.se,seconded by Mr.Underhill and carried that the Solicitor be instructed to take foreclosure proceedings under the Mortgage made by the Posit- ive Clutch and Pulley Works to the Corporation. MOved by Ifr.:Boulding,seconded by Mr.Southwood and carried that the Chairman of the Fire dommittee be authorized to enter into a. contract of Insura.nce.on the Fire Truck as fallows; Public Liability ip5QQQ.OO to $IOOOO.OO sproperty damage $r:ooo.oo.costing approximately $70.00 per rumum;and insuring the Firemen as :ro.LJ..ov; s,.cavering while going ta,returning frOlll or at a fire,in case of death $IOOO;.OO or in case of incapa.city,$IO.OO per week.a.t am approximate cast of $IIO.OO per year,an estimated total. of $I80.00 per year.
