SIXTH MEETING OF THE COUNCIL
FOR 1922.
The sixth meeting of the Council for the year was held in the
Council Room on. Monday evening February 20th.
All the members being present. The minutes of the previous meeting
read and confirmed.
Communications were received and read from the following persons
Namely:-Mr James C Forman Toronto re Assessment. Mr James Brothers
re Town Assessment. The Workmen's Compensation Board re protection
of Town employees. Mr R W Phillips County Clerk re equalized ass-
essmer:t. A petition was presented from the ratepayers of Wellington
Street east signed by Mr Dan Williamson and thirty six others p.et-
itiotliug the Council to carry out as a local improvement ou the same
terms as Yonge Sjl;reet was paved, curb and gutter and an additional
width of three feet nine inches on each side of the pavement which
the commission may lay, togather with the necessary storm sewers.
Mr Howard Proctor was in reference to an exchange of cer·tain lots
now used as Streets in the Wells sub-division.
Moved by Mr Legge seconded by Mr Taylor that the following accounts
be paid and that the Mayor issue orders on the Treasurer for the
same and that the seal of the Corporation be attached to this resol-
ution, Namely:-

Moved by' Mr Andrews seconded by Mr Taylor that the Assessor for the
•ruwn be instructed tu vhdt the office of the Assessment Commissioner
in Toronto, to receive such information and instruction as-they have
expressed a r*adiness to give him.
Carried.
Moved by Mr Matson seconded by Mr Bilorough that this Council do
hereby accept the tender for the supplying of Requisidon Forms as
submitted by Grand & Toy Toronto at the tate of $43.00 :?er one hun-
dred books. And that the seal of the Corporation be afixed to this
resolution. Carried.
Moved oy Mr Bilbrough seconded by Mr Matson that the By-law comlni ttee
be and are hereby instructed to prepare a By-law to be brought in
at the nex:t meeting of Council to appoint a Town Supervisior and tu
define his duties and that the seal of the Corporation be attached
to this resolution. Carried.
Moved by Mr Knowles seconded by Mr Grey that the. By-law committee oe
and they are hereby iustructed to report a By-law at the nex:t meet-
ing of this Council to amend By-law No 4€5.
Carried.
Moved by Mr Matson seconded by Mr Kuowles that this Coullcil do herebii
iustruct the Town Solicitor to collect any electric light and power
accounts in arrears.
And that the sea.:l of the Corporation be affix:ed to. this resolution.

Owing to the fact that the County Authorities have offered to give
us more Police Protection then heretofore tha·t this Council uo here-
by instruct the Town Clerk to give written notice to Mr W J Whittingham

that his services as Constaole will terminate one month from March 15:tl•

Sixth Meeting continued.
Moved by Mr Bilbrough seconded by Mr Andrews that this Corpon.tion
of Aurora do enter into an agreement \ti th the Toronto & York Highv1ay
Commission to ouild a 30ft road with storm sewers,gutters,and curbs
with couqrete base from Yonge Street to one hundred feet east of Grand
Trunk Railway on Wellington Street, the Corporation to pay for the extra
width over the twenty foot centre.
And that the Reeve and Councillors Legge and Grey oe and they are
hereby appointed a committee to waite on the Toronto &: York Highway
Commission on Friday next (24th inst) to request the Toronto & York
Highway Commission to ouily the ao.ove memtioned Road this year.
Ans the seal of the Corporation be attached to this resolution.
Carried.
Leave was asked to introduce a By-law to appoint a Solicitor for
the Town of Aurora..
Leave granted a.nd By_la.w read a first time.
Moved by Mr Andrews seconded by Mr Grey that ·the By-~aw now before the
Council be read a secund and third time this day and that Rule 33 o:t'
By-law No 10 be suspended for that purpose.
Carried.
By-law re3.d a second time and Council went into coimni ttee of the
whole Mr P.ndrews in the chair.
Committee rose· and reported By-law.
By-law re3.d a third time and passed.
Council then adjo~rned to meet at the call of the Ma;yor.
