The fourth meeting o:t' the Council for the year was held in the
Council Room on Monday evening J'U1Uary 30th.
All the members present, the Mayor in the chair.
The Minutes of the prev:ious meeting read and 0.$?nfirmed.
Communications were received and re:t.d from the follo~ring persons
Namely.:-Mr E A James Engineer Good Roads. Commission re cost of
pavin·g Wellington Street East from Yonge Street to 100 1 1!: of G:aand
Trunk Railway crossing. Canadian Westinghouse Comp'tiiY re payment'
of second instaJ.ment for switching equipment for Electric Station.
Prime Minister Drury acknowledging copy o:t' resolution re st'Uidreds
for matriculation. Mr James B Henderson presented report re the
proper assessment o:t' the Town of Aurora. Mr P M Faris re an error
in assessing his son E M Faris for poll tax.
Moved by Mr Knovrles seconded by Mr Matson that the 'J!re3.surer be
and he is hereby instructed to refund to Me E M Faris the sum of
Five Doll3.rs Poll Tax he being wrongfully 3.Ssessed for the same.
Carried.
Moved by Mr Watson seconded by Mr Legge that this Cou11cil do h
hereby authorise the Clerk to notify the Assessor Mr Brothers to
excerise aJ.l in his power to have the assessment so made that aJ.l
properties, buisness and otherwise will be assessed at their true
v aJ.ue, aJ.so that every effort be made to see that those parties
eligable for ouisness and income tax are properly assessed. and
th3.t he can caJ.l upon the services of Mr Gillanders in correcting
the assessment roll as far as possiole re the correct property
discriptioms. And that the seaJ. of the Corporation be afixed to
