Moved by Mr Andrews seconded by Mr Taylor an resolved that this
Council of the Town of Aurora; Ontario, dis:~.pproves of the propos:l.l
of the Educ:~.tion:l.l Dep:~.rtment of Ontario to raise the examination.·
st:~.nderds for matriculation to the Universities, as it is the unamim-
ous opinion of' the memoers of' this Council, that the standards as
prevailing at present are quite high enough, and that· to maKe matrL
culation more difficult would certainly have the effect of shutting
out many young men and wernen of average aoili ty and ma.ny of only
moderate means, from the advantages of university education; much
to the detriment of the oest interests of our people and the future
of our country.
Further-it is the opinion of this Council, that the course of study

tate education of more direct benifi t to those scholars who !l.re not
