MINUTES - Council - 19201122I TWENTY FOUR'rH MEETING OF THE COUNCIL F 0 R 1 9 2 0. The twenty fourth meeting of the Council for the year was held in the Council Ruom on Monday evening November 22nd. Moved by Mr Browning seconded by Mr Matson Whereas the Mayor Vim J Bassett ha.s foud. i't necessary tl> be absent from his duties as Mayor of the Town of Aurora. for the remainder of the present tenn of office. And whereas it is necessary to appoint a member of the Council to be acting Mayor And whereas it is provided that the Council may av- point one of its members to be acting Mayor. Therefore be it resolved that Reeve Dr Scri veuer oe and he is hereby appointed acting Mayor of this Corporation for the oal;u1ce of the year 1920, during the abseuce of the Mayor Wm J Bassett. Carried. Le3.ve was asked to introduce a By-law to appoint a Constaole ana truant officier for the Corporation of the Town of Aurora. Leave granted and lily-law read a first time. Moved oy Mr Browuing secouded by Mr Matson that the By-law now o before the Council be read a second 3.lld third time this day and that Rule 33 of By-law No 10 be suspencteu for that purpose. Carried. By-l3.w re.3.d :a second time :and Council went into committee of the whole Mr Matson iu the chair.
