The seventeenth meeting of the Council was held in the Council Room on Friday evening July 30th. 'rhe following members being present Namely:-Mayor iassett, Reeve Scrivener Councillors Hickson, Naughton and Matson. The minutes of the two previous meetings read and confirmed. Communications were received :u1d read from the following persons Namely:-Mrs Robert Simpson re goods ordered when quar:u1tined. Mr C H Sheppard re Powder Lot. Mr R W Phillips re amount of taxes to be for County purposes. A deputation of the Ratepayers of Kennedy Street was heard in reference to the Town taking of Kennedy Street. And that the seti of the Corpon.tion be 3-fixed to this resolution, Carried. Moved by Mr l'.htson seconded by Mr Naughton that the Clerk Mr Petch be instructed to write to the Town Engineer E A James & Co re the condition of liiattery supplied for use on the new g:l.solene pump engine. That is that same W:l.S improperly shipped and thereby suffered damage for which we think an adjustment should be made with the iawden Pump Co before finti p,ayment is made. And that the seal of the Corporation be afixed to this resolution. Carried. Leave W:l.s asked to introduce a liy-law for the sale of the lot Known as the "Powder Lot". Leave granted and lily-law read a first time. Moved by Mr Matson seconded by Mr N3.ughton that the :ily-law now be- fore the Council be read a second and third time this day a.nd that Rule 33 of liiy-law No· ~0 be suspended for that purpose. Carried. By-law read a second time and Council went into committee of the whole Dr· Scrivener in the chair.
