The eighth meeting of the Council for the year was held in the
Council Room on Tuesday evening May 29th.
The following members being present Namely:-Mayor Bassett, Reeve
Knowles, Councillors Browning, Hill 9.lld Reeves.
The minutes of the previous meeting read and confirmed.
Communications vrere received and read from the following persons
Namely:-W J Baldwiu declining the position of High School Trustee.
Superintendent of the Toronto Westren Hospital re Miss A Connor.
Mr C H Sheppard objecting to the Powder Lot being malil.e a dumping ,_,
ground for refuse also asking to have Ross Street gravelled and a cement
walk. on the same. SUperintendent of the Toronto General Hospital re main-
tenance of Joseph Corbier.Mr W S Gibson Ontario Land SUrveyor re approval
of subdivision of part of Lot 66 in the First Concession of the Township
of Whitchurch.

Movei by Mr Reeves seconded by Mr Browning that By-law No 487 be
amended and Dr T Scriveners name be substituteG. in lieu of Mr W J
Bald wins who Q.eclineil. to accept position as High School Trustee, the
seal of the Corporation be attacheil to this resolution.
Carried.
The committee appointed to interview Matson Dunn & Co reported as
follows that we inllerviewd Mr Dunn who sail. they woula install the
Fire Alarm Whistle for Four hundred and fifty uollars (on trial )the
Town to furnish material needed also man to help do the work.
Moved by Mr Browning seconded by Mr Reeves that the committee
appointeCI. re fire alarm be instructed to accept Matson Dunn & Cos.
offer for fire alarm and have same installed on the Town Hall, and
if satisfactory the Mayor issue onler on the Treasurer for same, the
seal of the Corporation be attached to this resolution.

3rd New four foot cement walk on west side of Victoria Street from
the eni of the present wa.lk south to Mosley Street.
4th New cement walk on west sicile of Victoria Street from Church Street
south to Gumett Street, cement crossing; east sH.e of Victoria Street
at west eni of Harrison Ave •

~raied they think advisable; also: short lilrain on Temperance Street.
8th. We wouli also reccoment that Mr D Cram be paid $3,50 per tay
from May 19th 1919 until further notice.
