The third meeting of the Council for the year vras held in the Council
room on Monday evening J:u1uary 29th.
All the members being present.
The Mayor in the chair.
The minutes of the last meeting read and adopted.
Communications were receive.d and read from the following persons
Namely:-Mrs Charles Sec of Womens Instute re use of Pa:rk July lst.
W. 0. Galloway Sec Bureau of Industries re Municipal Auditing.
J.H.Wight re overcharge in taxes.
R Drewett re refund of· taKes property not in Corporation.
J. Albert Pay City Clerk of St Catherines re resolution in reference
to present Inadequate, Wasteful, and Inequitable method of recruiting.

Moved by Mr H:u1cock seconded by Mr Basset·~ that the following
accounts be paid and that the Mayor issue orders on the TreJ.surer
for the same and that the seal of the Corporation be attached to
this resolution, Namely:-Munder Tungsten Lamp Co 15. 60, E. J. Roth-

of the Corporation be attached to this resolution.

Moved by Mr Bassett seconded by Mr Andrews that the l!ly-la.w Committee
be a.nd they a.re hereby instructed to report a By,+law at the neKt , ·
meeting of the Council to appoint a Solicitor for the year 1917 for
the Town 9lld the seal of the Corpora.tion be a.ttached to this resolution.

Moved by Mr Bassett seconded by Mr H91:1cock th3.t the request of the
Womens Patriotic Le3.gue asking for the use of the Town Park for their
field on the first of July be gr91:1ted a.nd the seal of the Corpora.tion
be attached to this resolution. Carried.
Moved by Mr Knowles seconded by Mr Taylor that the Mayor sign an ,
order on the Treasurer for the sum of eighteen cents in favor of Mr
J. H. Wight the same being an overcharge on his taxes for the year 1916.

Lea.ve wa.s asked to introduce a By-l3.W to appoint a.n Assessor.
Leave was gra.nted a.nd By-law read a first time.
Moved by Mr H91:Jcock seconde·d by Mr lhssett that the By-law now befure
the Council be read a second and third time this day 9l:Jd that rule
33 of By-la.w No 10 be suspended for that purpose.
Carried.
By-la.w read a. second time 3.nd Council went into committee of the
whole Mr Hancock in the cha.ir.
Committee rose and reported bl'l.!Jk filled with the name of Dunc'l.ll Cram.
By-law rea.d a third time 3.nd passed.
Council then a.djourued to meet at the call of the Mayor.
