THE 0 0 U N C I L The seventeenth meeting o~ the Council for 1913 was held on Wednesday evening August 27th, the fol~owing members being present;-namely, Mayor Baldwin, Reeve Y~owles and Councillors Andrews, Browning, Bassett, Crockart, and Hulse? the Chair. If!inutes of the last meeting read and confirmed. The Mayor in The Mayor explained he had called the special meeting for the purpose of consulting the Council in regard to taking over the plant from Mr Birchard. The ]fietrepibli tan Company intended starting on the instalation of the new plant on Tuesday next and he thought it would be best for the Corporation to have full controll of the old system in order that there would be no con flict with the old electric light Company. Application was received from the Public School Board asking the Council to assess the town for Five Thousand Dollars for Public School pur-po.sea for the current year. An p.pplioation "!JaB also received from the High School Board asking the Council to assess for two thousand five hundred dollas for the rnaintainanoe of the High School for the current year A communication was received from A Langman of Barrie for the position of electrician for the Town. Moved by Mr Knowles seconded by Mr Andrews that the Electric Light Committee be and they are hereby instructed to .enter into an agreement with Mr Birchard for the use of his electric light plru1t until such times as the town plant is installed and taken ~' over by this Corporation, and they are also instructed to enga ge a man to take charge of the town plant and that the seal of tha Corporation be attached to this resolution.
