TWENTY THIRD M E E T I N G 0 F T H E COUNCIL
F 0 R 1 9. 1 3.
The twenty third meeting of the Council fo'£ 1913 was held on
Monday ijvening December 8th, the following members being present
Namely, Mayor Baldwin Reeve Knowles and Councillors Bassett,
Crockart, Hulse and Sisman.
Minutes of the last two meetings read and confirmed?
Communications were received and read from;-
lrhe Canada Metal Company re the purchase of the scrap copper wire
offering $12.90 per 100 lbs F. o. B. Toronto.
Stickney Coal Company re the supplu of coal.
B.ell Telephone Col:llpany re the attachment of electric light guy
wire to one of their polls.
w. T. Andrews, presenting a plan of the town to the Council and
informing the Council he was leaving for California for the
Winte;r.
The Acetyline Gass Co per H. D. Lundy asking compensation for
loss sustained by the instilation of the Municipal Electric Lighting
system.
Bills were received and read from the following persons;-
Stiver Bros, coal for town hall $5.00
Aurora Hardware Co, sundries for electric a 85
B. F. Davis, unloading 45 tons coal
Hagersville Contracting Co, stone
A, E. Machell, work on electric light

Moved by Mr Sisman seconded by Mr Hulse that the following
accounts be paid that the Mayor issue orders on the Treasurer
for the same and that the seal of the Corporation be attached to
this resolution;-Viz

Moved by Mr Bassett seconded by IKr Crockart that the Electric Light
Committee be and they are hereby authorized and instructed to
look into the Electric Light bills and pay such as they find
correct and the se~l of the Corporation be attached to this
resolution.
Carried.
Moved by Mr Sisman seconded by Mr Bassett that the E],ectric
light Committee be and they are hereby authorized to enter into
a Contract with the Ferranti Electric Company for one years
supply of Meters as per their terms and prices submitted in
contract.
Carried.
Moved by I\\r Knowles seconded by Er Hulse that the Electric
Light Committee be and they are hereby ins~ructed to dispose of
aXi the old Electric Light Plant that is of no use to the Corpor
ation and that the seal of the Corporation be attached to thlts
resolution

Leave was asked to intrmduce a bylaw to assess for County School
and other purposes.
Leave granted and Bylaw read a first time.
Moved by Mr Sisman seconifed by Mr Hulse that the bylaw now before
the Council be read a second and third time this day that rule 33
of bylaw No 10 be suspended for that purpose and that the seal of
the.Corporation be attached to this resolution.

whole on the same Mr Bassett in the chair
Committee rose and reported bylaw with blanks filled.
Bylaw read a third time and passed.
Leave was asked to introduce a bylaw to appoint a tax collector.
Leave granted and bylaw read a first time.
Moved by Mr Bassett seconded by Mr Crockart that the bylaw now before
the Council be read a second and third time this day that rule 33
of bylaw no 10 be suspended for that purpose and that the seal of
the corporation be attached to this resolution•

whole on the same.

Leave was asked to intrmduce a bylaw to raise by"way of loan
an additional sum of money for the purpose of purchasing and installig
electrical pumps and other necessary improvements in connection
with the Aurora Water works and ~~~XS~XO~ Electric Light and
power system.
Leave granted and bylaw read a first time.
Moved by Mr Bassett seconded by I!ir Crocks.rt that the bylaw now
before the Council ibie now r.ead a second time this day that rule 33
of Bylaw No 10 be suspended for that purvose and that the seal of
the Corporation be attached to this resolution.
Carried.

whole on the same.

Leave was asked to introduce a bylaw to rovide for the submis
sion of a bylaw authorizing the Municipality of the Town of Aurora
to entrust the construction of the water works and the electric light
and power system and the Control and management of the same to a
commission to be called The Public Utilities Commission of the
Town of Aurora

Moved by I.lr Bassett seconded by Mr Crockart that the bylaw now
before the Council be read a second and third time thms day that
rule 33 of bylaw No lo be suspended and that the sael of the
Corporation be attached to this resolution.

Bylaw read a third time and passed.
Leave was asked to introduce a proposed bylaw to provide for
entrusting the construction of the water works and electric light
and power system and the control and management of the same of
the town of Aurora to a commission to be called the Public Utilities
Commission of the Town of Auroaa
Leave granted and bylaw read a first time.
Moved by Mr Sisrnan seconded by Mr Hulse that the bylaw now before
the Council be read a second time this day that rule 33 of bylaw
No 10 be suspended for that purpose and that the seal of the
Corporation be attached to this resolution.

Moved by Mr Sisman seconded by Mr Hulse that the Clerk be and he is
hereby authorized and instructed to have the bylaw to raise the sum
of $8.000 by the issue mf debentures advertised in the Aurora
Banner the first insertion to be December 12th? and also to insert
the bylaw to appoint the Public Utilities Commission for the Town of
Aurora first insertion to be December 12th, 1913
