The eighth meeting of the Council For I9IO was held on Thursday
evening May I2th, the following members b~ing present;-viz Mayor
Baldwin, Reeve Knowles and Councillors Bassett, Murray, Scrivener, St
Stevenson and Towns,
The Mayor in the chair.
Minutes of last meeting read and confirmed.
A Communication was received and read from
T, H., Lennox M, L. A. enclosing his bill for law costs also one from
H, D. Wilkinson for drafting bill for the :::.e·gislature.
Mr Kennedy in regard to the sale of property to open Temperance street
from Reuben street to Kennedy Street.
Bills were received from
H. D. Wilkinson drafting bill for The Legislature $25.00

Moved by 1£r Bassett seconded by Mr Scrivener · that the following bills
be paid that the Mayor issue orders on the Treasurer for the same and h
that the seal ·of the Corporation be attached to this resolution,

Application was made to have a water main laid on Larmont Stret to
Medcalf street to supply the new houses which are being built on that
street.
Moved by Mr Knowles seconded by Mr Murray that the Waterworks Com
mihttee be and they are hereby instructed to investigate the advisabil
ity of laying a 2 I/2 inch water main from !.'lesley street south to

on r.armont street to Medcalf street thence West west on Medcalf strel!l
to Wells Street and if the$~" deem it advisable they proceed with the
work at once and have it completed.
Carried.
Moved by Jf.r Bassett seconded by I.:r Stephenson that r1r ;, . W. Brodie
and :Ur Scrivener be and is hereby appointed a committee to secure the
Band instruments from J. C. Cuerrie belonging to this Corporation for
the use of the Band and that the seal of the Corporation be attached
to this resolution.
Carried.
Moved by Mr Murray seconded by Mr Stephenson that the '.'laterworks
Gommittee be and they are hereby instructed to proceed at once with
the oiliny of Young and '!!ellington Streets within the terri tory set
out in the bylaws governing the street watering on said streets.
Carried.
r.roved by Dr Scrivener seconded by Mr Bassett that the Road and
Bridge committee be and they are hereby authoriEed to build cement
sidewalk on the following streets and proceed with the work ~s rapidly
as possible, Viz Church Street from Yonge to Victoria, five feet in
width, Wells Street from I.Iosley to Metcalf, Four feet in width,
Wellington Street west from Yonge to Machell Avenue four feet in width,
Machell avenue to be repaired or rebuilt.
Carried.
Council then adjourned to meet at the call of the lc1ayor.
