A BY•LAW TO STRIP: THE RATES IN THE TOWN OF AURORA FOR THE YEAR 1948o wHEREAS estimates have been prepared showing that the sum of "f/o';/)~.:~7, ~tft is :required to be :raised for the lawful purposes of the uo:rpo:ration of the Town of aurora for the :year 1948. AN.D \I'.HEREAS there is :required to be :raised for' special Pw:POses the sum of 113416.80\ for sewerage debentures under The Local Improvement Act. AND WHEREAS, in arriving at th'JI 71 requirements of :ijl89,443.~, consideration has been given to The ~ovinciaJ. SUbsidy to MUnicipalities of One Mill and to an amount equal in total to ll!58,640 .• 45 received b:y the :respective School Boards from the -":rovincial Government towards education costs to be used for the :relief of taxation on real estate, as well as :revenue accruing from other sources. AIID WHEREAS the total assessable prope:rt:y within the corr;oration is as follows: Land $452.162o00; Buildings $1,238.498.00 and Business $96,212.00. I I I 3 6 1788.67' /. 60 CJ CJ =so. oooo Planning Board There shall be struck, rated, levied and collected a further special rate per foot frontage to raise the sum of $3416.60 to cover the ratepayers share of the cost of the Corporation's Sewerage System, such rate to be in accordance with the rates and against the properties decided ~ the Court of Regision held for such purposes and the Collector• s Roll shall provide accordingly. That there be imposed as a penalty a percentage eharge of one half of one ~ per centnm for non-payment of the taxes or any instalment tJ:a reof on the first da.y -1- of default and on the first day of each month thereafter in \vhich default continues, but not after the end of the year in which the taJtes are leviedo That the statutory penalty and interest shall be charged on all of the rates not paid on the 31st day of December, 1948, and such penalty and interest shall 1) be levied and collected by the Collector or Treasurer as if the same had been origin&ly imposed and formed part of the said rate. The Clerk shall prepare and deliver the Collector's Roll to the Collector on or before the / rt~·d~ of W 1948. The Collector is hereby anthorized to mail or cause to be mailed the ' notice provided for by Section 109 of The Assessment Act to the address of the residence II or place of business of the persons to whom such notice is required to be given. The Collector mall, if any instalment of taxes remains unpaid for more than fourteen days after the date provided for pafment thereof, forthwith proceed to collect by distress or otherwise, under the provisions of the Statute in that behalf, .~ all such taxes so in default, together with the percentage thereon hereby imposed for &Qoh default. day of ;JJ;. The Collector shall return his .Roll to the Treasurer on or before the /'Yd"' 1949, and furnish the Treasurer thereupon all such statements of taxes unpaid and otherwise as are required by The Assessment act.
