A BY-LAI'I '~0 S'i'RIKE THE RATES liil TH:C ~DVI.\1 OF AURORA :FOR THE YEAR LJ47.
WH8REAS estimates have been prepared showing that the sum
<of $78,704,82 is required to be raised for the lawful purposes of the
Corporation of the Town of Aurora for the year 1947.
AN.D \'l!LSREAS there is required to be raised. for special
purposes the sum of $3416.80 for sewerage debentures under the Local
Improvement Act and the sum of ~484.70 for oiling certain streets.
AND WHEREAS, in arriving at the said requirements of
~~78, 704,82,· consideration has been given to ~lie Provinci!J,l Subsidy to
Mcmicipalities of One Mill and to an amount eqaal in total to .;;;#,<103. g/,
received by the respective School Boards from the l:rovincial Goverruaent
towards education costs to be used for the relief of taxation on real
estate, as well as revenue accruing from other sources,
AND WHEREAS the total assessable property within the
Corporation is as follows: Land ~1440.461.00; Buildings i/U,l86,955.00
and Busine.as $83,378.00.
THEREFORE THE lv!Ui<ICIPAL COi:hiCIL OF THE CORl'ORAl'IO:~ OF .THE
TOWIJ OF AuRORA .ENACTS AS BDLLOWS:
There shall be struck, rated, levied and collected upon the
assessable land, buildings and business assessment the following rates:

There shall be struck, rated, levied and collected a furthor special
rate per foot frontage to raise the sum of $341S.SO to cover the ratepayers share ~;I/
of the cost of the Corporation's Sewerage system, such rate to be in accordance with~\.
the rates and against the properties decided by the Court of Revision held for
such puyposes and the Collector's noll shall provide accordingly •

There shall be struck, rated, levied and collected a special rate
per foot frontage againtt all properties fronting on streets which
are to be dressed with oil, the said rate being required to produce the sum of
$484.70 with which to pay the cost of oiling the said streets.

The saiu rates may be paid, without discount or penalty, at any time d. aft<?r the 15th'day of Auc;ust, 194lZ, and on or before the 14th day of illcembe·r,l94'il.

Any rat·epayer, who shall pay the whole or any portion of the said rates
on or before the 15th day of May, 1947; shall be allowed a discount of two percent &
on the amount so paid and any ratepayer who shall pay the whole or any partion o:f the
s"id rates after the 15th day o:f Maiv, 1947, and ,on or·be:fore the 15th day o:f August,
1947, shall be allowed a discount o:f one percent on the amount paid.

~'hat the statutory penalty and interest shall be chilrged on all of
the rates not paid at the. 15th day of December, 1947, and such penalty and interest
shall be l&vied and collected by the Collector or Treasurer as if the same had been
originally imposed and forned part of the said rate.

The Clerk shall prepare and deliver the Collector's Roll to the Collector ~

on or before the 1st day of October, 1947,
• The Collector is hereby authorized to mail or cause to be mailed the
notice provided for by Section 109 of The Assessment Act to the address of the
residence or place of business of the persons to whom such notice is required to
be given.
The Collector shall~ if any instslrnent of taxes remains unpaid for
more than fourteen days after the date provided for payment thereof, forthwith
proceed to collect by distress or otherwise, under the provisions of the Statute
in that behalf, all such taxes so in default, together with the percentage thereon

The Collector shall return his Roll to the Treasurer on or before the
1st day of February, 1948, and furnish the Treasurer thereuron all such statements
of taxes unpaid and otherwise as are required by the Assessment Act, •
