The sixth meeting of the Town Council for 1914 was held
on Monday evening April 2oth, 1914, the following members being
present, Mayor Baldwin, Reeve Knowles, and Councillors Basset
Crockart/ Coulter, and Sisman.

Minutes of last meeting read and confirmed •
The Clerk laid on the table the Aunntors report of the Municipal
and School accounts.
Communications were received and read from T. N. Brodie
resigning thev position of Chief of the Fire Brigade.
Secretary of the Fire Brigade recommending the names of
three or four for the position of Chief of the Fire Brigade.
Underhills Limited re electric light and power.
The Secretary of Trinity Mens Club inviting the Council to
attend a banquet in Trinity Hall on Wednesday evening May 6th,
at which the Mayor of Toronto is to be the speaker.
A deputation consisting of Messers Alexander, Conover Bilborou
gh and Spur were heard re opening of Gorge street north to
Wellington street.
A deputation from the Fire Brigade asking for an increase
of pay for the Brigade, and making some recommendation which they
consider would be in the best interests of the brigade.
Mr William Sandford asking the Council to open Medcalf street
to Ross street
• Mr George Holman complaining that Berczy street was being a
dumping ground for all kinds of rubbish, and that no action had
been taken for the removal of the three small offices on that
street.

Moved by Mr Coulter seconded by Mr Knowles that the resignation
of Mr T. N. Brodie as Chief of the Fire Brigade be accepted and
that the seal of the Corporation be attached to this resolution.

Moved by Mr Bassett seconded by Mr Crockart that the Auditors report
of the Municipal and School accounts be received and finally audited
bp: this Council that the Mayor and Clerk be and they are hereby author

sign the same and that the~be and heis hereby authorized and ized to
and instructed to have Two hundred copies of the same printed for
distribution.

Moved by Mr Knowles seconded by Mr Coulter that the Clerd be and
he is hereby instructed to advertise for fifty or more loads of gravel
to be delivered on the streets of Aurora as directed by Mr Dunham
and that the seal of the Corporation be attached to this resolution

Moved by Mr Knowles seconded by Mr Coulter that the Mayor
and the Electric Light Committee be a committee to meet the T
Teronto And York Radial railway Co. to arraign on what bases
the Town of Aurora is to pay for power to the said Railway Co.
Carried.
Moved by Mr Bassett seconded by Mr Crockart that in view of
the fact that the streets cannot be oiled until such times as
tR~ streets are cleaned by the Road and Bridge committee there
fore be'iit resolved that the road and bridge committee be and
they are hereby a~thorized and instructed to assume the oiling
of the streets as set out in the bylaw governing the same.
Carried.
Moved by Mr Sisman seconded by Mr Bassett that the members of
the Fire committee of the Council arrange a meeting with the
Committee of the Fire Brigade for the purpose of receiving and
making recommendations as to the compensation to be paid to the
Fore Brigade members.
Carried.
Leave was asked to introduce a bylaw to appoint a chief of
the Fire Brigade.
Leave granted and bylaw read a first Time
Moved by Mr Knowles seconded by Mr Coulter that the bylaw
now before the Couno~l be read a second and third time this
day that rule 33 of bylaw No le be suspended for that purpose
Carried.
Bylaw read asecond time and council went into committee of
the whole on the same.
Committee rose and reported bylaw with blanks filled with
the Name of Richard Tustin and the salary $15.00 per Annum
Bylaw read a third time·and passed
Vouncil adjourned to meet at the Call.of the Mayor
