The seventh meeting of the council for 1914 was held in the
Council Room on Monday evening May 4th, 1914
Members present, Mayor Baldwin, Reeve Knowles and Councillors
Bassett, Coulter, Crockart/ Murray·. The Mayor in the chair.
Minutes of last meeting read and confirmed.
Communications were received and read from the Trinity Mens
Association notifYing the Council that the ban~uet to which they
had been invited had been postponed until ~hursday evening 7th.
Electrical Standard Laboratory, Ottawa, calling the attentin
of the Council to the fact that a cirtifieate of Registration
had not been made.
From the Aurora Branch of the York County Temperance Associa
tion asking the Council to appoint a truant officer to see that
the children attend the school and children under age do not
attend the moving picture show unaccompanied b~their parents or
guardians and that the Pool room license be discontinued.
Bills were receive~ and read from Rev G. s. Despard, supplies
for C/ Williams, $15.25, Bell ~elephone Co conversations, 50cts
B. F. Davis unloading oar of ooal $15.oo James Morrison & Co
pipes & et $34.41., A. R. Williams, repairing boiler $10.53,
Bennett & Simpson, electrical supplies $7.46
Tenders for Gravel were received from
W. c. Kennedy, offering to deliver 5o loads at $1.65

loads of gravel each of one and one half yards to the load at
$1.65 be accepted.
Carried.
A deputation from the old Boys reunion of Toronto was heard
asking the Council to grant the sum of Five Hundred Dollars towards
defraying the expenses of the demonstration, also asking for the exc
elusive use of the Town Park and the Market Hall.
Tha ~yor informed the deputation a public meeting would be
held shortly and the Council would be guided by the decision of the
meeting. •
Moved by Mr Knowles seconded by Mr Murray that the Electric
Light Committee be and they are hereby instructed to have the
necessary lights placed on Centre Street East of the Grand Trunk
Tracks and on Wellington Street East of the Grand Trunk Railway
and on R.oss street and on Yonge Street north to the first bridge.
Carried.
Leave was asked to introduce a bylaw to appoint a Court of
Revision to revise the Assessment Roll.
Leave granted and bylaw read a first time
Moved By mr Bassett seconded by Mr Crookart that the Bylaw now
begore the Council be read a second and third time this day and
that clause 10 of Bylaw 33 be suspended for that purpose.
Carried
Bylaw read a second time and Council went into committee of
the whole on the same Mr Murray in the Chair.
Committee rose and reported »Jxia blanks filled with the
names of Mayor Baldwin Reeve Knowles and Councillors Crockart
Coulter and Murray and the first ~eeting of the Court on Monday
evening June First at 7 o'clock.
Bylaw read a third time and passed.
Leave was asked to introduce a bylaw for the management of
the Electric Light and Power System
Leave granted and bylaw read a first time.
Bylaw laid over for further consideration
