T H E C 0 U N C I 1 F 0 R The thirteenth meeting of the Town Council was held in the Council chamber on Tuesday evening September !3th, the following members beih being present;-Viz, !1~ayor Baldwin, Reeve Knowles and Councillors Brodie, Bassett, Murray, Scrivener and Stephenson. Minutes of last meeting read and confirmed. A communication was received and read from T. H. Lennox, 11, L. A. asking the Council to appoint a committee to comfer with him in the case of Carmans suit against th.is Corporation. From the Public School Board asking the Council to assess for $3500 for Public School purposes;- From the High School Board asking the Council to levy and assess for $2000 for High School purposes. Accounts were received from;- The British American Oil Co, freight on car of oil Strasler & Dunham, intBrment of Morley and etc, Samuel George, lumber for §idewalks Toronto & York Radial Ry, two cars of sand Dr W. J. Moved by lir Knowles seconded by I1r Murray that the road and bridge comrni ttee be and they are hereby instructed to build a new cement sidewalk on the east side of Temperance street from Reuben street to Kennedy street. Carried• Moved by Dr Scrivener seconded by 1;1r bassett that the Clerk be and is hereby instructed to write Mr Kennedy asking him to come to Aurora to assist in making out th:e '!{ellington street drain account and that his expenses be paid by the Town and that the seal of the Corpon,tion beattached to this resolution Carried. Moved by Mr Xnowles seconded by l'lr Murray that the Road & Bridge committee be ani they are hereby instructed to construct a I5 inch cement tile drain from the Chinese laundry on Yonge street to the corner o~ Victoria and Mosley streets. Carried. Moved by Mr Scrivener seconded by Mr I\lurray that a two and one half inch water main be laid on We.lls street from Wellington street to connect with a small main running north from lf.osley street and that an inch and one half main be laid on the west side of Mill street to the southern corner of Mayor Baldwins lot and that the seal of the Corporation be attached to this resolution. Carried. Moved by l1lr Xnowies seconded by i.ir Murray that the Collector be and he is hereby instructed to proceed at once to ~ollect all unpaid taxes. Carried. The Clerk laid on the table a report in regard to the rates for the present year together with the rate per mill required to raise the required sums to be J.ssessed for. Moved by lir Brodie seconded by Mr Bassett that the report of the Clerk in regard to rates for the present year be referred to the Finance committee with instructions to report at the next meeting of this Council. Carried. Leave was asked to introduce a By-Law regarding ?ublic !~orals of this .Municipality? Leave granted and Bylaw read a first time. Moved by Mr Bassett seconded by mr Brodie that the By-Law now beforG the Council be read a second anli third time this day and that 33 of By-Law fio IO be suspended for that purpose Carried. Bylaw read a second time and Council went into Committee of the who& on the same Mr Stephenson in the chair. Committee rose and reported By-Law with blanks filled.
