The seventeenth meeting of the Council was held in the Council room
on Tuesday evening September I4th, for I909. The Following members
being present;-namely, Mayor Baldwin, ::teeve ll!:nowles and Councillors
Bond, Bassett, Browning, Delahaye, Hastings and Querrie.
Minutes of last .meeting read and confirmed.
Communications were received and read from;-
The riverside Shoe Co. Q.ubec, asking what inducements the Council
would give them to locate here.
The .?ublic :Ochool Board asking the council to assess for :;';3200. oo
for 2ublic School purposes.
The High School Board asking the Council to assess for $900.00
for High School purposes.
Mr Mark Browning asking for the privelege of having a Skating
rink in the town park for the comimg winter.
The County Clerk giving the amount the County assessment requiil
from this Corporation as follows, County Purposes $'977. 76, Industrial
Horne, ~fo7.52, Court House Debenture, ~75.07.
A. petition was received from T. ll. Broad and seven others praym
ing the Council to construct "' drain on Spruce street and charge a
frontage tax therefore.
A :Deputation was heard consisting of E.r Fred 'Cnderhill and
T::r J. l\I. \Villis asking the Council to set aside an amount to pay the
expenses .of the Demonstration to be held on oednesday September 22nd
in commemoration of the establishment of the Fleury Agricultural Works
in Aurora also to proclaim '.7ednesday afternoon ~epternber 22nd a Civic
halfholiday for the same purpose.

1iark Browning for the use of the Town Park in which to construct a
skating rink this winter be granted on the J!Sual terms and that the
seal of the Corporation be attached to this resolution.

Moved by !::r Knowles seconded by Icr Browning that the time for the
return of the Collectors roll for 1908 be and the same is hereby exten
ded lintil October Ist and that the Collector be and is hereby direc;t;ed
to proceed to collect all taxes in arrears forth with.
Carried.
Eoved by :.:r Hastings seconded by l.\r Browning that the l!:'ire and' light
Committee be and are hereby instructed'to purchase 38 pairs of rubber
boots for the use of the Fire Brigade and that the seal of The Corpor
.ation be attached to this resolution.

red and' fifty dollars be granted to the. Committee in charge of the
Fleury l:iemorial Demonstration to be held on Wednesday September 22nd
and that the ;,:ayor do issue his :xE:eitJJtmRt::i:EH order on the Treasurer
for this sum and that he issue his Proclimation proclaiming ~·:ednesday
afternoon September 22nd a C~vic half holiday, and that the seal of
the Corr,oration be attached to this resolution.

purposes, '!!own purposes, flublic school purposes, High "choolpurposes
r:aterworks Debentures, Un derhill & §isman Debentures &c.
Leave granted and Ily-law read a first time.
Moved byl\lr Bassett seconded by },:r Hastings that the By-law now before
the Council be read a second a:hd third time this day and that rule
33 of bylaw number IO be suspended for that purpose

whole on the same Hr Browning in the chair

By-Law read a third time and passed.
