The eighth meeting of the Council for I9Q9 was held in the Couu.cil
Chamber on Monday evening May 3rd !909, the following members being
prese:Q.t, the M~J~,yor, Reeve and Councillors Bassett, Browning, Delahaye
and Q~errie, The Mayor in the chair.
Mi•utes of the last two meeti:Q.gs read and confirmed.
Communications were received and read from:
Mrs J?etoh asking some repairs to be made to the water works house,
Joseph Harvey stating he would be here as soon as possible to put down
the new artesian well.
The Clerk laid on the table the AUditors report of the Municipal and
School accounts for the year !909.
Tenders for street wateri:(l§! were received from:
W. L. Banbury at $!0.00 per week? A. E. Machell at $I2.00, and
B. Ft Davis at $J:o,oo,
A petition was received from Thomas Sisman and !2 others asking
the Council to open the drain from the corner of Larmont and !Jloeley
Streets to Wells street and charge a frontage tax for the same.

Moved by Mr Knowles seconded by Mr Querrie that the Communication
M~e Fetch re repairs on waterworks dwelling be and the same is hereby
referred to the waterworks Committee.

Banbury for watering parts of Yonge and 'Iellington streets be and
the same is hereby accepted, work to commence and end at the direction
of ~he chairm~ of the waterworks committee and that the Clerk do
notify Mr .an bury of the same~

be paid, that the Me.yo:t sign orders for the same and that the seal of

of Municipal and School aooCiunts for 1996 be received and adopted and
that the Clerk be and is hereby instructed to have 11!.00 copies printed
in pamphlet form for distribution and have the same advertised acoor
ding to law.

Moved by Mr Bassett seconded by Mr Browning tnatn the action of the
mayor in signing orders for the payment of the following accounts be
and the same is hereby confirmed and that the seal of the Corporation
be attached to this resolution •.

Moved by Mr Base61114l eeconded by rJr Delahaye that the Mayor, Reeve
and Oouncillor Browuing be and are hereby appointed a Committee to
see the parties through which the proposed drain may run and also
see after the legal end of the matter and that the seal of the
Corporation be attached to this resolution.
Carried.
Moved by Mr Browning seconded by Mr Delahaye that the Clerk be and
is hereby authorized aD,d instructed to prepare a bylaw to borrow
upon the special issue of Debentures bearing interest at 5 per cent
payable annually for twenty years the sum of $3600, the floating
debt of Corporation also a bylaw to borrow upon the special issue of
Debentures bearing interest at 5 percent payable annually for twenty
years the sum of $!200 to pay the. cost of constructing and sinking
another artesian Well.
Carried.
Leave was asked to intrmduce a bylaw to appoint a court of revision
for !909.
$eave granted ani Bylaw read a first time.
Moved by Mr Bassett seconded b$ Mr Delaha.ye that the bylaw now
before the Council be read a second and third time this day and
that rule 33 -of bylaw fio IO be suspended for that purpose.
Carried.
Bylaw read a second timev and Council went into committee of the whole
on the same Mr Querrie in the chair.
Committee rose and reported bylaw with blanks filled.
Bylawread a third time and passed.
Council adjourned to meet at the call of the Mayor.
