COURT OF REVISION (Local Improvement, sewers)
A court of Revision to hear appeals against Local Improvemaat assessments
was held in the Council Chambers Monday March 13th 1950 at s.oo P.M.
Those sitting at the Court were Reeve Cook; Dep.Reeve Corner, Councillors
Corbett; Glass; Jones; Murray; Pringle~ Engineer A. Brown appeared on
behalf of the Town, and Messrs. Proctor, Redfern & Laughlin, Toronto •
. Because of illness the Mayor was unable to attend the Court, on motion
of Councillors Glass & Corner the Reeve assumed the Chair for the
even&ng.
WILLIAM DUNNING; Mr. Dunning appeared to ascertain the amount of assessment
to be paid by him. He also appeared on behalf of Mrs. J. Saigle, advising
that 100ft of her property has been sold, and .asked the a~justment be
recorded.
A, HARTSMAN; appealed by reason of him feeling that his property could
not be served by the sewer on Wellington St, w. The possibility of
obtaining cellar drainage was decided doubtful and on motion of
Councillors Corbett & Glass, The assessment was reduced by 50% by reason
of being unable to serve tor cellar drainage. Carried.
GEORGE LAWSON: asked that the assessment be divided, assessing the
house separately, from the remaining land~ The house to be assessed to
George Lawson, the land to Mrs. Geo, Lawson.
CHARLES COLLETT: Mr. Collett appealed on the groun«s that hie house
could not be served by the sewer on George St.
In ·view of the provisions on the Local Improvement Act,
and the tact that the Collett property does touch on George St. the ~.._
wf ~ourt could not alter this assessmnet.
GLASS, BBIBIH'.Jil; That the Assessment of Chas. Collett be sustained.c""";,.d...
BRUCE PRUNER: Appealed on the grounds that the Storm sewer on Cousins
D~ive did not benefit the property.
The Court was bound to act according to the Provisions of the Local
Improvement Act on this matter. MURRAY, CORBETT; That the assessment of the property be sustained. Carried.
~ ' JAMES GOULDING: Mr. Goulding appealed on the gronds that the sewer on
Gurnett St. could not possibly benefit his property since the Town held
an Easement tor Sanitary and Storm sewer acress a large portion of the
property and could never be built upon for that reason~
GLASS, CORBETT; That this assessment be repealed. Carried.
MRS. M. PALMER: Mrs. Palmer, who was unable to attend, but registered
an appeal with the Office staff, the matter of being able to connect
with the sewer on Tyler St. was discussed, Due to the tact that the
sewer does not touch her property and that the present house is so
situated as not to be able to be served,a motion by MURRAY, JONES that
the assessment be appealed was KBB carried.
No furthe~ appeals being registered and all delegations being heard, on
motion of CORBETT & PRINGLE, the Court was adjourned. Carried.
