A BY-LAW TO STBIKE THE BATES IN THE TOWN OF AUR>BA FOB THE YEAB 1945.
WHEREAS estimates have been prepared showing that the
of $63,720.94 is required to be raised for the lawful purposes of the

AND WHEBEAS there is required to be raised for l!pecial purposes
the sum of $3413.40 for sewerage debentures under The .Local Improvement Act and
the sum of $478.53 for oiling ce:x:tai!! streets, .
AND WHEBEAS, in arriving at the said requirements of $63,720,94,
consideration has been given to The Provincial SUbsidy to Municipalities of one
Mill and to an amount equal in total to ~36,572.89 received by the respective
School ~oards from the Frovincial Government towards educational costs to be used
for the relief. of taxation on real estate, as well as revenue accruing from other
sources.
AND WHEREAS the total assessable property within the Corporation
is as fbllows: Land $435.246.00; Buildings $1,185.110.00; Business $63,512.00.
THEHEFORE THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE COBPOBATION OF THE TOWN OF

THERE shall be struck, rated, levied and collected upon the assess-

such purposes and the Collector's Roll shall provide accordingly.
There shall be struck, ra4ted, levied and collected a special
rate of two cents per foot frontage against all properties fronting on streets which
are to be dressed with oil, the said rate being required to produce the sum of (i478.53
with which to pay the cost of oiling the said streets.

Any ratepayer who shall pay the whole or any portion of the said j

rates on or before the 15th day of Mey, 1946, shall be allowed a discount of two J.
percent on the amount so paid and any ratepayer who shall pey the whole or any ' .
' portion of the said rates after the 15th day of May, 194§, and on or before the ,
15th day of August, 1945, shall be allowed a discount of one percent on the amount
so paid.
That the statutory penalty and interest shall be charged on I all of the rates not paid by the 15th day of December, 1945, and such penalty
and interest shall be levied and collected by the Collector or Treasurer as if the

the Collector on or before the 1st dey of October, 1945.
The Clerk shall prepare and deliver the Collector's Roll to
same had been originally imposed and formed part of the said rates.
The Collector is hereby authorized to mail or cause to be mailed. A. J .11

the notice provided for by Section 109 of the Assessment Act to the address of Jr .
the residence or place of business of the person to whom such notice is required
to be given.
The Collector shall, if any instalment of' taxes remains unpaid
for more than fourteen days after the date provided for payment thereof', forthwit:P.··· A, J1
proceed to collect by distress or otherwise, under the provisions of the Statute ~~
in that behalf, all such taxes so in default, together with the percentage thereon
hereby imposed for such default.
The Collector shall return his Roll to the Treasurer on or JJ)
all such jff .lY before the 1st day of' February, 1946, and furnish the Treasurer thereupon
statements of taxes unpaid and otherwise as are required by the Jl.ssesffinent Act.
