Dear Sirs:
RE: Aurora Cemetery Corporation
By -Law Number 4474-03.1) is a by-law to control and regulate the destruction and injury of trees
in Aurora.
We are Aurora Cemetery Corporation and have developed and maintained the cemetery for 160
years, including all trees thereon. Please find attached photographs of cabled trees.
To carry out the proper pruning and cabling, the cemetery utilises th
recognized arborist. e services of a registered and
Section 20 of the by-law lists exemptions to the by-law. The cemetery respectively requests
Council to add the Aurora Cemetery to the exemptions for the following reasons:
a) trees are pruned and cabled in an ongoing program;
b) any activity or matter undertaken by the cemetery is of an emergent nature in
relation to its, tree program wherein trees block roadways, burials, or other
ceremonies unexpectedly;
c) in an emergent situation, particularly on a weekend or statutory holiday, it is not
possible to obtain tree permits prior to the removal of debris to allow funeral
corteges egress or exit;
-z-
d) the cemetery has shown assiduous care of its tree inventory for over 100 years and
will continue to do so properly,
Your support of an exemption to By -Law 4474-03.D for the cemetery is appreciated.
Your truly,
PEIRCE, McNEELY ASSOCIATES
