BY"LAW REQUIRING THE REMOVAL OF SNOW FROM SIDEWALKS.
WHEREAS by Revised Statutes of Ontario, 1~37, Chapter 266,
by•laws may be passed by Councils of Local Municipalities requiring the
clearance and removal of the snow end iee from the sidewalks and for reg-
ulating the times when and the manner in which the same shall be done.
AND WHEREAS .the Uouncil of the Gorpt)ration of the Town of

Aurora deems it expedient to pass such a by-law to provide for the clearance
and removal.of snow afta ~e from off the sidewalks in the Corporation.
NOW ·THEREFORE 'illiS MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE
TOWN OF AURORA ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
l. The occupants of buildings adjoining any of the streets or
highways within the limits of the Corporation of the Town of Aurora are hereby j. 14
required to clear away and remove the snow ~a iee from the sidewalks adjoining ·
their premises, in accordance with the terms and provisions of this by•law.
2. In the case of when snow or sleet has fallen during the night, the

occupantsof business places are hereby required and shall clear and remove the
snow and ice from off the sidewalk adjoining such business placesby // o'clock
the following day and the occupants of all other buildings are hereby required j d }j
and shall remove the snow ana ice from off the sidewalk adjoining such buildings
by I o'clock the folloVIIing day.
In the case of when snow or sleet has fallen during the day time,
the occupants of business places are hereby required and shall clear and bemove
the snow mtd ice-from off the sidewalk adjoining such business places within 3
hours after such snow or sleet has ceased to fall and the occupants of all other
buildings are hereby required and shall remove the snow and-ie4 from off the
Sidewalk adjoining such buildings within hours after such snow or sleet
has ceased to fall.

Vlhere snow or sleet has fallen during the night, the owners
of vacant land. adjoining any street or highway within the limits of the Cor-
poration of the Town of Aurora are hereby required to and shail clear and remove,
or cause to be cleared and removed from off the sidewalk, if any, adjoining
such vacant land and snow or 3 he by / o'clock the following day and.
where the snow or sleet has fallen during the daytime, the owners of such
vacant land are hereby required to and shall clear and remove or cause to be
cleared and removed from off the sidewalk, if any, adjoining such vacant
land the snow al!Hi !:ee within lg hours after such snow and sleet has ceased
to fall.
In default of the snow an!l. iee having been cleared. and removed
from off the sidewalk in accordance with the terms: and provisions of this by-
law, or any amendment thereto, the Corporation may cause the snow ana ice to
be cleared and removed from off the sidewalks adjoining-any business place or
other building, or vacant lot, aforesaid, where the snow iR!l. iae have not been
so cleared. or removed., and in this evant the cost and expense of such clearance
and removal Shall be charged to the owner of the business place or other build~
ing or vacant lot, the sidewalk adjoining which the snow attd ice has been j{J.
cleared and removed by the Corporation, ahd the c·orporation may recover the
expense incurred. in doing it by action. or the same may be recovered in like
manner as municipal taxes, or the council may provide that the expense in-
curred by it, with interest, shaJ. l be pa.,able by such person in annual in-
stalmants not exceeding ten years.
