BYLAW - Strike the Rates for the Year 1944 - 19440501 - 90844/ BY-LAW NUMBER 908 of the Iftunicipal Corporation of the Town of Aurora. A BY-LAW TO STRIKE Tlfi; RATES IN ~'HE TOWN OF AlTrl.ORA FOR THE YEAR 1944. W"rlEREAS estimates have been prepared showing that the s= of $64,726.49 is required to be raised for the lawful purposes of the Corporation of the Town of Aurora, during the period 1944 made up as follows: General Town purposes, including . estilll;l.ted abatements and defic- iencies in collection. and Public School Board and High School Board County of York levy Social Service General Municipal Debentures $16,083.67 14,000.00 8,700.00-- 6,150~- 5oo.oo <I 19 ,ll-92.62 AND WHEREAS there is required to be raised for special purposes the sum of $3446,20 for sewerage debentures under The Local Improve- · ment Act. AND WHEREAS, in arriving at the said requirements of $64,726.49, consideration has been given to The Provincial Subsidy to Mun.- icipalities, as well as revenue accruing from other sources, AND WHEREAS the total assessable property within the Corporation is as follows: land $434,126.00; Buildings $1, 124.970.00; Business $64,075.00. THEREFORE THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF TRE CORPORA'riON OF THE TOWN OF AURORA ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: -2- THERE shall be struck, rated, levied and collected upon the assessable land, buildings and business assessment the following rates: General Town Purposes $1608~.8!1 9,9089 County Purposes 6150,35 3,7891 Public School Purposes 14000.00 8.6251 High School Purposes 8700.00 5,3599 Social Service 500.00 0,3080 Street Paving and resurfacing No.l5 5572,29 3,4330 Arena Debenture No, 13 1445.13 0.8903 H,S, Deben. Nos. 51,52,53,54 7293.33 4,4933 I Disposal Plant Debenture No, ll 4141.27 2,5513 Sewage System Debenture No.ll. 1040.60 . o,64ll There shall be struck, rated, levied and collected a further special rate per foot frontags to raise the sum of $3446,20 to cover the rate- payer's share of the cost of the Corporation's sewerage system, such rate to be in accordance with the rates and against the properties decided by the Court of Revision heJ.d for such p:nrposes and the Collector's Roll shall provide accord- inly. The said rates may be paid, without discount or penalty, at any time after the 15th day of Au5wust, 1944, and on or before the 14th day of December, 1944, Any ratepayer who shall pay the whole or any portion of the said rates on or before the 15th day of ivlay, 1944, shall be allowed a discount of two percent on the amount so paid and any ratepay-er who shall pay the whole or any portion of the said rates after the 15th day of iday, 1944, anci on or before the 15th day of 1\ugust, 1944, shall be allowed a discount of one percent on the amount so paid, That the statutory penalty and interest shall be charged on an of the rates not paid by the 15th day of December, 1944, and such penalty and interest shall be levied and collected b,y the Collector or Treasurer as if the SBJJJe had been originally imposed and formed part of the said ratesc - -~-: ;-.-.. _-_ ... ) - 3 - The Clerk shall prepare and deliver the Collector's Roll to the Collector on or before the 1st day of October, 1944o The Collector is hereby authorized to mail or cause to ·be mailed the notice provided for by Section 109 of the f,ssessment i\ct to the address of the residence or .place of business of the person to whom such notice is required to te given., T]Ie Collector shall, if any instalment of taxes reuains unpaid for more than fourteen days after the date provided for payment thereof, forthwith proceed to collect by distress or otherwise, under the provisions of the Statute in that behalf', all such taxes so in default, together with the percentage tl1ereon hereby imposed for such defaulto •:(he eonec tor shaJ 1 return his noll to the 'xreasurer on or before the 1st day of February, 1945, and furnish to the ~'reasurer thereuron all such statements of taxes unpaid and. otherwise as are requil'ed by the Assessment Dated at The To•:m Hall, "'·urora, this / )'tday of :·ca-f, 1944, Passed at the Town Hall, .i~Ul'ora' this I Ma:l of nay' 1944 0 MAYOR CLERK ' I I i
