A BY-LAW TO STRIKE THE R.A'I.'ES IN THE TOWN OF .AURORA FOR THE YJi:.AR 1942,
WHEREAS estimates have been prepared showing that the
sum of $64,955.20 is required to be ~aised for the lawful purposes of
the Corporation of the Town of Aurora, during the year 1942 made up as
follows:
General purpose including estimated
abatements and deficiencies in collection
and Publid School Board
and High School Board
County of York levy
Direct relief purposes
General Municipal Debentures

AND WHEREAS there is required to be raised for special
purposes the sum of ~4438,29 for pavement debentures and the sum of
~3456,07 for sewerage debentures under The Local Improvement Act.
AliD WHEREAS, in arriving at ·the said requirements of
$64,955,20, consideration has been given to The Provincial Subsidy to
Municipalities, as well as revenue accruing from other sources •
.AND WHERE.AS the total assessable property within the
Corporation is as follows: land $436,761.00; Buildings $1, 122,045,00;
Business $65.074,00,
THEREFORE THE MUNICIPAl COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF
THE TOWN OF .Al:IROR.A ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:

2. There shall be struck, rated; levied and collected a
special rate pe~ foot frontage against the various properties fronting on
pavements to raise the amount of $4438,29 required under The Local Improve-
ment Act by the Town's various paving By-laws, such rates to be in accord-
ance with the requirements of the said By-Laws and the Collector's Roll
shall provide according,
3. There shall be struck, rated, levied and collected a further
special rate per foot frontage to raise the sum of ~3456,07, to cover the
ratepayer's share of _the cost of the Corporation's sewerage system, such
rate to be in aoc·ordanoe with the rates and against the properties decided
by the Court of Revision held for such purposes and the Collector's Roll
shall provide according,

4. . The said rates may be paid, without discount or penalty,
at any time after the 15th day of August, 1942 and on or before the 14th
day of December, 1942.
Any ratepayer who shall pay the whole or any portion of the
said rates on or before the 15th day of May, 1942, shall be allowed a dis-

count of two percent on the amount so paid and any ratepayer who shall pay
the whole or any portion of the said rates after the 15th day of 1!ay, 1942,
and on or before the 15th day of August, 1942, shall be allowed a discount
of one percent on the amount so paid.
6. That the statutory penalty and interest shall be charged
on all of the rates not paid by the 15th day of December, 1942, and S],lCh
penalty and interest shall be levied and collected by the Collector or
Treasurer as if the same had been originally imposedand formed part of the
said rates.
7. The Clerk shall prepare and deliver the Collector's Roll
to the Collector on or before the 1st day of October, 1942.
s. The Collector is hereby authorized to mail or cause to be
mailed the notice provided for by Se~tion 1~9 of the Assessment Act to the
address of the residence or place of business of the person to whom such
notice is required to be given.
9. The Collector shall if any instalment of taxes ren~ins unpaid
for more than fourteen days after the date of payment thereof forthwith pro-
ceed to collect by distress or otherwise, under the provisions of the ~tatute
in that behalf, all such taxes in default, together with the percentage thereon
hereby imposed for such default.
10. The Collector shall return his Roll' to the Treasurer on or
before the 1st day of February, 1943, and furnish to the Treasurer thereupon
all such statements of taxes unpaid and otherwise as are required by the Assess-
ment Act.

11. That there shall be struck, rated, levied and collected ()).

ting on streets which are to be dressed with oil, the said rate to pay the
cost of oiling the said streets. }
