APPROVAL OF AGENDA
#1. Moved by Mayor Jones Seconded by Councillor McKenzie
THAT the content of the Agenda as circulated by the Clerk's
Department be approved as outlined herein, with the addition of the
delegation of Ms. B. Fraleigh.

DELEGATIONS
Ms. B. Fraleigh, Resident re: Crossing Guards on McClellan Way
Ms. Fraleigh addressed Report PW95-033-201 in order to present Council with
a third alternative. She indicated support for the recommendation that two
school crossing guards be approved and that the pedestrian-activated traffic
signals be removed. However, if Council does not wish to approve two
crossing guards, she requested that consideration be given to approving one
crossing guard at Tradewind Terrace for the benefit of Highview Public School.

THAT the request of the delegation be referred for consideration
along with Report PW95-033-201.

#3. Moved by Councillor Healy Seconded by Councillor Wallace
THAT the full-time firefighter complement be increased to 16
persons, inclusive of four captains;
THAT staff finalize revisions to the recruiting policies and
commence discussion with the Aurora Professional Firefighters
Association and Aurora Volunteer Fire Brigade respecting impact on
present operations and revisions to the Collective Agreement
necessary to provide continuous 24 hour service; and
THAT the Fire Services Review Committee submit an additional
report respecting these discussions prior to proceeding with any
recruitment activities.

#8. Moved by Councillor Sor/ey Seconded by Councillor Healy
THAT the Report and Bill 3624-95.P regarding sales from
refreshment vehicles be received as information; and
THAT the Report and draft Bill 3624-95.P and the content of the
Committee of the Whole's discussion be referred back to the
Refreshment Vehicle Licensing Committee and the By-law
Enforcement section of the Clerk's Department for revisions to the
Bill as appropriate.

PW95-033-201 -Request for School Crossing Guards on McClellan Way and

THAT one crossing guard be authorized in the location of the
existing pedestrian-activated traffic signals.

#11. Moved by Councillor Healy Seconded by Councillor Morris
THAT the Committee receive this Report as an update to the
annual School Crossing Guard survey for the six existing locations,
as required by the current policy with respect to same; and
THAT the request for the installation of two School Crossing
Guards be approved, one in the vicinity of each of Highview Public
School and Light of Christ Separate School on McClellan Way
effective Sept. 1, 1995 at an additional annual cost of
$26,000.00, and that the existing pedestrian-activated traffic
signals be removed.

Meetings Calendar for the Month of June. 1995

THAT the meetings calendar for the month of June be approved
without amendment.

Requested Council to have regard to the
cumulative long-term financial implications of its
decisions.
Advised Council as to the costs of installing
lights on the walkway at the north end of the
Armadale Auto Campus and indicated that she
may bring this forward as a motion in future.
Requested the Director of Public Works to bring
to Council's attention the necessity for decisions
respecting the pedestrian-activated traffic signals
currently required in the Cat-Tail Subdivision
Agreement.
Requested Council to give consideration to
whether it wishes to remove the existing
pedestrian-activated traffic signals on McClellan
Way.

NEW BUSINESS
PW95-040-202 -Amendments to Town Refuse By-law and Contract Between
The Town and Waste Management York Simcoe for the Collection of
Recyclables
#13. Moved by Mayor Jones Seconded by Councillor Morris
THAT the Town's Refuse By-Law be amended; such that the
Town's recycling programme be amended to include additional
materials for collection and processing;
THAT staff finalize the revisions necessary to the contract for
waste and recyclable materials collection between the Town of
Aurora and Waste Management York/Simcoe, A Division of WMI
Waste Management of Canada Inc. dated May 25, 1994, for future
consideration by Council;
THAT addition of a fifth compartment to the two recycling trucks
owned by the Town and operated by Waste Management
York/Simcoe to collect additional recyclable materials be
implemented; and
THAT collection of additional recyclable materials per the above
amended By-Law commence on Tuesday, August 1, 1995.
