t~r. Brian Lenglet, a representative of the Ministry of Ed1cat .. ion, reviewed
for the benefit of the Committee the Pro vi nee's f rmu 1 a for the
apportionment of education costs and provincial grants as w s in place until
1987. The revisions to the method of calculating same 'fori 1988 and the
positive impact the changes would have on Aurora's sha e. ;of the total
education costs to be raised through taxation to support tHe York Region
Board of Education were explained.
Mr. Lenglet answered questions of the Committee concernihg the formulas,
their implications and education funding in general.
Mayor Hest thanked Mr. Lenglet for his presentation orl behalf of the
Committee.
Residents' Petition, Centre Street re: Increased Local Tqaftic and Safet
of Children
Mr. Douglas Eveleigh attended the meeting to present a peti~i ior and to voice
the concerns of the residents of Centre Street related to i creasing volumes
and speed of traffic using the street to avoid the onge Street and
\-!ellington Street intersection.

Mr. Spasopoulos provided the Committee with an outline ofl his proposal to
purchase the municipally-owned Browning property on Yonge street South and
to extend his existing building southwards. A commitme~t :to remove the
existing front yard parking to be replaced with a landsca!)edi "parkette" to
provide a 4 foot wide illuminated walkway to the rear bf 1 the property,
thereby providing access to the library and to increase th~ piresent parking
on the property at the rear was made.
