Town of Richmond Hill re: Request for endorsement of its resolution
petitioning The Honourable David Peterson, Premier of Ontario for
utilization of excess provincial revenues to restore adequate service levels
in certain areas

THAT the resolution of the Town of Richmond Hill respecting the
utilization of excess revenues of the Province of Ontario to fund
the provision of transportation, health care, education, recreation
and cultural services in the rapid growth areas of Ontario to
restore adequate service levels to those areas be supported and
that the Premier of Ontario be so advised.

THAT this letter be received as information and that a resolution
protesting the inaction of Bell Canada in implementing the E.A.S.
Service with Metropolitan Toronto be prepared for presentation at
the next meeting.

Olympics -May 23, 1987

Mayor West memo to All Members of Council re: traffic signals at: Haida
and Wellington St. W.; and Industrial Road and Wellington St. E.

THAT the recommendations of the Mayor be accepted; The Regional
Municipality of York be advised that the Town of Aurora agrees to
construct the required widening of the Haida Drive pavement at the
intersection with Wellington Street West to provide two (2)
outbound lanes and one {1) inbound lane with an extra wide throat
to a design satisfactory to the Commissioner of Engineering; and
the Chief Administrative Officer be directed to determine the
appropriate allocation of funds for these works within the 1987
Budget.

Signs on Regional Roads

THAT this Committee express to the Regional Council at its meeting
scheduled for March 26, 1987 that the proposed by-law which would,
in part, ban political signs on Regional road allowances is not
supported.

THAT option No. 1 of the Clerk's report be adopted as the genera 1
policy for delegations and the Chief Administrative Officer be
directed to prepare an addendum concerning contentious planning
matters.

THAT as a general procedure regarding delegations, the following be
adopted:
Delegations to be permitted at the same meeting but Council
receiving the delegation information and weighing such information
as consideration under Unfinished Business in conjunction with the
applicable staff report; and
That the Chief Admi ni strati ve Officer and Clerk be requested to
bring in a further report supplementing the above procedure when
there is a contentious planning issue to be dealt with.

NEW BUSINESS
Councillor Timpson was congratulated on his seeking of the Progressive
Conservative nomination in the York North Riding by the Chairman.
Counci 11 or Timpson indicated to the Committee that he was concerned about
the condition of the road in the Tannery Creek subdivision and the lack of
sidewalks along the south side of We 11 i ngton Street West. He further
indicated that he would be introducing a motion concerning the provision of
rental accommodation at the next meeting.
