Dear Committee Members,
I am writing on behalf of the Canadian Mental Health Association York Region and South Simcoe (CMHA
YRSS) to express our sincere interest in being considered as a recipient of the Aurora Mayor’s Charity
Golf Classic. With this application we would like to request funding in the amount of $5,000.00 going
towards our Mobile Youth Walk-In Clinic (MOBYSS).
The impact of mental health struggles, especially among young people, cannot be overstated. Every
year, nearly 3,700 individuals in Canada lose their lives to suicide, and it is the leading cause of death for
those aged 15-24. This is a critical issue that requires immediate and sustained attention. The pandemic
has only exacerbated the mental health challenges faced by young people. Studies indicate that 70% of
school aged children have experienced a deterioration of their mental health due to the pandemic’s
disruptions. The need for accessible, specialized care has never been greater.
One of our most significant initiatives, the Mobile Youth Walk-In Clinic (MOBYSS) was launched in 2015
and has been tackling the loss of young lives to mental illness, addiction and suicide. Operating as
Ontario’s first and only mobile and virtual mental and physical health clinic for youth aged 12 -25,
MOBYSS has provided free, no wait, no judgement care to over 16,000 youth in York Region and South
Simcoe since its launch. The MOBYSS schedule can be viewed by clicking here, where you can see we
provide services to youth at Aurora High School each Friday from 9am – Noon, as well as all day for
virtual appointments.
MOBYSS operates five days a week, 52 weeks a year, ensuring that youth can access critical services
without barriers. The mobile clinic’s services range from primary care to one-on-one counseling and
group discussions. MOBYSS meets young individuals where they are, whether it’s at schools, community
centres, or shelters, in both urban and underserved areas. While MOBYSS has made a significant impact,
we are faced with the challenge of maintaining its operations. The $350,000 annual operating cost is
entirely reliant on philanthropic donations. Your support would directly contribute to sustaining this life -
saving initiative.
Thank you for your time and consideration in reviewing our application. Should you require any
additional information or have any questio ns, please feel free to contact me directly.
Sincerely,
Vicky Hatzopoulos
Donor Engagement Officer

To Whom It May Concern,
The Aurora Cares Community Action Team was originally created during the COVID-19
pandemic to support residents experiencing homelessness, seniors, people living with
disabilities and those who rely on food banks. As the pandemic subsided, the Action Team
paused its work, but has now been reestablished to provide ongoing support to community
members.
The Action Team’s inaugural meeting was held on May 13th and discussed new ways to connect
vulnerable community members to available services, as well as provide any potential in-kind
supports. The Action Team also discussed revising the resource guide it developed during
COVID-19 to include updated information and links and include housing supports for those that
need assistance.
In order to be prepared for any costs associated with providing these supports we are seeking
$5,000 from the Mayor’s Golf Classic Funds Committee to assist with initiatives of the Aurora
Cares Community Action Team.
I thank you for your consideration and look forward to your response.

Re: 2024 YRCF Stay in School Program
The York Region Children’s Fund (YRCF) has a mission to help improve the quality of life for
children and youth in the care and protection of York Region Children’s Aid Society (YRCAS)
through support for vital childhood enrichment, education support, and compassionate aid. With
the community’s help, we can enrich the lives of some of the most vulnerable children and youth,
and ensure they have the opportunities needed to help them reach their full potential. The YRCF
Stay in School Awards initiative, has two main components: Public School Awards for students in
grade 8-12 who have demonstrated success within their school year, recipients receive a
certificate of recognition for their achievements and are awarded a gift card; Post-Secondary
Awards for students who are attending College, University or a Trades Program. Eligible students
can apply for an annual Stay in School Award and receive coaching for their award from their
YRCAS advisor. Last year, we awarded 53 Public School Awards and 17 Post-Secondary
Awards. We are committed to supporting and encouraging educational achievement among
young individuals.
The Canadian Federation of University Women Aurora/Newmarket started the Stay in School
Awards 8 years ago following a presentation from the Provincial Advocate for Children and Youth.
The research showed that the high school graduation rate for youth that are on Extended Society
Care was less than 50%. The provincial average is above 80%. The awards program promotes
staying in school and our staff have told us that showing these young people the community cares
about them, and their school achievement, is a real source of encouragement.
The York Region Children’s Fund (YRCF) has sustained the initiative that was initially launched
by the Canadian Federation of University Women Aurora/Newmarket. We are actively engaging
with the community to fund the awards program aimed at recognizing and supporting youth who
have persevered in their education and are making commendable strides.
Our very first award winner has completed law school, and another winner was accepted into the
York University MBA program. Other great success stories including students entering the trades,
film and music. There are bright hopeful results.

The YRCF obtains funding through donations and grants and these funds are provided to the
YRCAS through the Children’s Special Projects Fund. The Children’s Special Projects Fund was
created to support activities and needs outside of the Ministry’s mandated funding. This fund
supports the experiences and needs that add richness and normalcy to the lives of children and
youth we serve, such as recreational activities, music lessons, household items, tutoring, tuition
fees, textbooks, laptops and other school supplies. One of our goals is to encourage youth who
are on Extended Society Care (previously known as Crown Wards) or voluntarily working with the
York Region Children’s Aid Society to stay in school.
The YRCF receives donations that are dedicated to our Stay in School Awards program, however,
there are education needs above and beyond this. With the Aurora Mayor’s Charity Golf Classic
funds, we will be able to provide more support and awards to help York Region children and youth
achieve educational success!
YRCF is seeking $5,000 from the Aurora Mayor’s Charity Golf Classic for our Stay in School
Awards program.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me at diana.horrex@yorkcas.org if you have any questions or
require further information.

Empowering Jack: Bring Juno Home Campaign
Dear Customer Relations,
My name is Victoria Williams, and I am contacting you today to discuss my fundraiser and to inquire
about any contributions you may to able to donate.
I have a 7-year-old boy with Autism and a while back we joined the waiting list at Ability Dogs Canada in
hopes of being matched with an Autism Service Dog.
We have finely received the news that we’ve been eagerly waiting for, and have been matched with
Juno, an Autism K9 from ADC (Ability Dogs Canada).
We have begun our 12-month fundraising campaign to help cover the associated costs. While any
donation amount is valuable to reach our goal, we are requesting $1000 donation from your
organization.
Please confirm your interest to participate via email and/or phone.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Victoria Williams
