MINUTES - Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Advisory Committee - 20140619 TOWN OF AURORA PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Date: Thursday, June 19, 2014 Time and Location: 7 p.m., Leksand Room, Aurora Town Hall Committee Members: Councillor Wendy Gaertner (Chair), Gordon Barnes, Juergen Daurer, and Greg Smith Member(s) Absent: John Clement and Ron Weese Other Attendees: John Firman, Manager, Business Support, and Linda Bottos, Council/Committee Secretary The Chair called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. DECLARATIONS OF PECUNIARY INTEREST There were no declarations of pecuniary interest under the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act. CARRIED Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes Thursday, June 19, 2014 Page 4 of 4 NEW BUSINESS Councillor Gaertner provided an update regarding the Aurora Armoury and noted that the building has been designated as an historic site. Moved by Gordon Barnes Seconded by Juergen Daurer THAT staff be directed to provide a report regarding the potential repurposing or disposition of the Aurora Armoury to the new Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee in 2015. CARRIED Committee members discussed the status of the Pricing Policy and commented on the challenges of reviewing and setting the pricing structure. The Manager, Business Support reported briefly on the results of Pricing Policy reviews performed within the past two years. The Committee expressed the desire for comprehensive information and feedback to be provided to the new Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee in 2015 on this matter and other matters relevant to the Committee. Councillor Gaertner expressed appreciation to the Committee members for their time and contributions during the past term. ADJOURNMENT Moved by Juergen Daurer Seconded by Greg Smith THAT the meeting be adjourned at 7:49 p.m. CARRIED THE REPORT OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING OF JUNE 19, 2014 IS SUBJECT TO FINAL COUNCIL ENDORSEMENT OF THE RECOMMENDATIONS ON JULY 15, 2014.
