MINUTES - Heritage Advisory Committee - 20140714 TOWN OF AURORA HERITAGE ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Date: Monday, July 14, 2014 Time and Location: 7 p.m., Holland Room, Aurora Town Hall Committee Members: Councillor John Abel (Chair), Councillor Sandra Humfryes (Vice Chair) (arrived 7:10 p.m.), David Heard, John McIntyre, and Bob McRoberts Members Absent: Jacqueline Stuart Other Attendees: Marco Ramunno, Director of Planning and Development Services, Vanessa Hicks, Program Manager, Heritage Planning, and Patty Thoma, Council & Committee Coordinator/Deputy Clerk The Chair called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. DECLARATIONS OF PECUNIARY INTEREST There were no declarations of pecuniary interest under the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act. CARRIED DELEGATIONS (a) Dr. Philip Kritzinger, Applicant Re: Item 1 – HAC14-018 – Request to Remove a Property from the Aurora Register of Properties of Cultural Heritage Value or Interest, 95 Wellington Street East Dr. Kritzinger provided a brief update to his presentation at the last Heritage Advisory Committee meeting held on June 9, 2014. Moved by John McIntyre Seconded by Bob McRoberts THAT the comments of the delegate be received for information. CARRIED MATTERS FOR CONSIDERATION 1. HAC14-018 – Request to Remove a Property from the Aurora Register of Properties of Cultural Heritage Value or Interest 95 Wellington Street East Moved by Bob McRoberts Seconded by John McIntyre THAT report HAC14-018 be received; and THAT the Heritage Advisory Committee recommend to Council: THAT the property located at 95 Wellington Street East be removed from the Aurora Register of Properties of Cultural Heritage Value or Interest as it was determined not to be of significant cultural heritage value as per the Evaluation Working Group Report; and Heritage Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes Monday, July 14, 2014 Page 3 of 5 THAT the owners of the subject property hold a site visit with members of the Heritage Advisory Committee to determine the potential availability of items as part of the Aurora Architectural Salvage Program. CARRIED 2. HAC14-021 – Removal of Property located at 15186 Yonge Street from the Aurora Register of Properties of Cultural Heritage Value or Interest Moved by Bob McRoberts Seconded by John McIntyre THAT this item be deferred to the August 11, 2014 meeting; and THAT staff report back with additional information. Council Meeting Extract of June 24, 2014 Re: HAC14-06 – Heritage Advisory Committee Report of June 9, 2014 Moved by Bob McRoberts Seconded by John McIntyre THAT the Council Meeting Extract of June 24, 2014 regarding HAC14-06 – Heritage Advisory Committee Report of June 9, 2014 be received for information. CARRIED 8. Pending List Moved by Bob McRoberts Seconded by Councillor Humfryes THAT the Pending List be received for information. CARRIED Heritage Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes Monday, July 14, 2014 Page 5 of 5 NEW BUSINESS Mr. Heard noted that the fence in front of Hillary House is damaged and in need of repair. Mr. McIntyre advised that the repairs are the responsibility of Parks Canada, however, they do not have the funds to make the repairs. He indicated that the Aurora Historical Society has sought funding from MP Lois Brown and the Mayor’s Tournament in order to make the necessary repairs as soon as possible. Mr. Heard commented on issues regarding a site that has withdrawn from Doors Open Aurora 2014 and noted that this affects the start point for his tour at the event. The Program Manager indicated that she would investigate to resolve some of the issues and advised on advertising materials for the event. Councillor Humfryes informed the Committee that she would not be available to attend the August meeting.
