The Chair called the meeting to order at 7 p.m.

1. HAC14-012 – Review of By-law Number 4952-07.R designating “The John W.
Knowles House” under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act and By-
law 5375-11 designating the “John W. Knowles House” under Part
IV of the Ontario Heritage Act

THAT report HAC14-012 be received; and
THAT the Heritage Advisory Committee recommend to Council:
THAT this item be referred back to staff to consult with the current
property owner, research the property history, and report back to
the Heritage Advisory Committee at a future meeting.

2. HAC14-013 – Request for Member of the Heritage Advisory Committee To Be
Appointed to the Southeast Old Aurora Heritage Conservation
District Study Sub-Committee

THAT the Heritage Advisory Committee recommend to Council:
THAT Bob McRoberts be appointed to the Southeast Old Aurora

THAT the memorandum regarding Heritage Status of Properties from Ridge
Road to Henderson Drive be received; and
THAT the Heritage Advisory Committee recommend to Council:
THAT staff obtain as much information as possible regarding the
property known municipally as 14452 Yonge Street and report
back to the Heritage Advisory Committee at a future meeting.

NEW BUSINESS
Mr. Heard referred to the fire at the Aurora United Church and inquired whether there was
some way in which the Heritage Advisory Committee could be of assistance to the Church.
Moved by David Heard Seconded by Councillor Humfryes
THAT the Heritage Advisory Committee recommend to Council:
THAT the Town of Aurora and the Heritage Advisory Committee provide
leadership, assistance, and non-monetary resources toward the
rebuilding of the Aurora United Church.
CARRIED
The Program Manager, Heritage Planning noted that, in February 2013, Council adopted a
recommendation to designate the Aurora Armoury. She advised that a notice was published
more than thirty days ago and the designation by-law would soon be submitted for Council’s
approval.
