NEW BUSINESS
Svetoslava Topouzova inquired whether the Petch House proposal item could be
included on the agenda for discussion in the next term. Councillor Pirri advised that a
report on this item was being presented to General Committee and therefore was now
out of the Committee’s hands unless Council decides to refer it to the committee.
Gregory Cook questioned what the Council/Committee structure was from now until the
election. The Council/Committee Secretary provided an overview of the Council
schedule and information on the committee process during an election year.
Judy Gilchrist advised that she observed organizations handing out bottled water to
patrons at the 2014 Aurora Chamber Street Festival and inquired whether this could be
banned in the permit process. Councillor Pirri suggested that a request would have to
be made to the Chamber to have them ban bottled water as it may not be something
that could be dealt with in the permit process since the water was not being sold. Ms.
Gilchrist also requested the presence of more recycling bins at events held within The
Town of Aurora.
Councillor Pirri announced that he was elected, by acclamation, to the Board of Directors of
the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) and he looks forward to representing The
Town of Aurora in this role.
