Hinder, Tim Jones (arrived 3:05 p.m.), and Jo-anne Spitzer

Range & Strategic Planning, Jennifer Norton, Web Services

The Chair called the meeting to order at 3:04 p.m.
1. DECLARATION OF PECUNIARY INTEREST AND GENERAL NATURE
THEREOF
There were no declarations of pecuniary interest under the Municipal Conflict of
Interest Act.
2. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA

1. Memorandum from Manager of Long Range and Strategic Planning
Re: Community Recognition Awards Background Information

THAT the memorandum regarding Community Recognition Awards
Background Information be received for information.
CARRIED
7. NEW BUSINESS
The Committee discussed concepts from past meetings, and further discussed the
need for updated and additional award categories, the involvement of community
groups when selecting award winners, the branding of the Community Recognition
Awards, and potential sponsorship opportunities.
The Committee agreed that the 5-, 10-, and 15-year Volunteer Service Awards be
recognized through Members of Council going to the volunteer organizations, when

Tuesday, October 13, 2015 Page 3 of 3
appropriate, with a certificate, and that only the 20-year+ Volunteer Service Awards
be awarded at the Community Recognition Awards ceremony.
The Chair encouraged the Committee to consider options for award selection
committees and sponsorship opportunities for the next meeting.
Staff agreed to report back to the Committee with a draft plan for 2016 Community
Recognition Awards format.
