BYLAW - Authorize Alternative Voting Vote Counting Methods - 20170425 - 597717The Corporation of the Town of Aurora By-law Number 5977-17 Being a By-law to Authorize the Use of Alternative Voting and Vote -Counting Methods. Whereas section 42(1)(a) of the Municipal Elections Act,1996, S.O. 1996, c. 32 (the "Act"), as amended, provides that a municipal council may enact a by-law authorizing the use of voting and vote counting equipment such as voting machines, voting recorders or optical scanning vote tabulators, and; Whereas section 42(1)(b) of the Act also provides that a municipal council may enact a by-law authorizing alternative voting methods that do not require electors to attend a voting place in order to vote, and; Whereas the Act requires that the by-law will apply to a regular election if the by-law is passed on or before May 1 in the year before the year of the election; Now therefore the Council of The Corporation of the Town of Aurora hereby enacts as follows: The use of Internet Voting and Telephone Voting, as well as Optical Scan Voting Tabulators are hereby authorized for the purpose of voting during an early voting period, up to and including on election day on October 22, 2018.
