BEING A BY-LAW to
appoint Municipal Law
Enforcement Officers for
the Corporation of the
Town of Aurora.
WHEREAS Section 70 of the Police Services Act, R.S.O. 1980, Chapter 381, as
amended, provides in part that the Council of any Municipality may appoint one or more
Municipal Law Enforcement Officers who shall be Peace Officers for the purpose of
enforcing By-laws for the Municipality;
AND WHEREAS the Council of the Town of Aurora deems it desirable to appoint certain
employees as Municipal Law Enforcement Officers;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF
AURORA ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT the person listed in Schedule "A" attached hereto and forming part of this
By-law be and is hereby appointed as a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer for
the Town of Aurora.
2. THAT the employee so appointed is designated by the Town of Aurora to act as
a Provincial Offences Officer in accordance with any specific or general directive
of the Solicitor-General for Ontario in effect from time to time relating to the
power of Municipal employees to act as Provincial Offences Officers.
3. THATthe Clerk of the Town of Aurora shall be authorized to issue a Certificate of
Appointment bearing his/her signature or facsimile thereof to the Municipal Law
Enforcement Officer appointed by this By-law.
4. THAT the provisions of this By-law shall come into force and be effective upon
final passage thereof.
