BEING A BY-LAW to
amend Sign By-law No.
3400-92, as amended,
with respect to signs
permitted in residential
zones.
WHEREAS THE Municipal Council of the Corporation of the Town of Aurora enacted
By-law 3400-92 pursuant to the provisions of Section 210 of the Municipal Act R.S.O.
1990 c.M.45, as amended;
AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to amend the provisions of the said By-law
to regulate signage in an R5 or R5 Exception Zone.
NOW THEREFORE THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE
TOWN OF AURORA ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT Section 8, Signs Permitted in Residential Zones be and is hereby
amended by the addition of Section 8.2:
8.2 Sign(s) Permitted in an R5 or R5 Exception Zone
(a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this by-law, readograph signs shall
not be permitted.
(b) No sign erected shall obstruct or interfere with any architectural detailing
on the building.
(c) Ground signs for single tenant buildings shall not exceed 1.5m2 in area per
single sign face or 3.0m 2 for all faces combined. Such ground signs,
notwithstanding Section 6.4, shall not exceed 2.0m in height.
(d) Ground signs for multi-tenant buildings shall not exceed 2.0m 2 in area per
single sign face or 4.0m 2 for all faces combined. Such ground signs,
notwithstanding Section 6.4, shall not exceed 2.5 m in height.
(e) The area of wall signs shall not exceed 0.25m 2 of sign area per linear
horizontal metre of building wall upon which such sign is located. No sign
shall exceed 1.25m2 in sign area.
(f) The area of canopy signs shall not exceed 0.25m 2 of sign area per linear
horizontal metre of canopy fascia upon which such sign is located. No
sign shall exceed 1.0m2 in sign area.
(g) Notwithstanding Section 6.8, no projecting sign shall exceed 0.75m 2 in
area per sign face.
(h) No more than a maximum of two signs shall be permitted.
(i) Internally illuminated signs shall not be permitted in Special Sign Districts.
