BEING A BY-LAW to
temporarily close a portion of
Yonge Street within the Town
of Aurora for the July 1st, 1999
Parade (Canada Day).
WHEREAS subsection 207(1) paragraph 44 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. M.45, as
amended, authorizes Councils of the municipalities to enact by-laws for the temporary closure for
community purposes of highways under Council's jurisdiction;
AND WHEREAS the provisions of Section 24 of the Public Transportation and Highway
Improvement Act, R.S.O. 1990 c. P.SO, as amended, authorize Councils of municipalities to
temporarily close certain highways for a period not exceeding seventy-two (72) hours;
AND WHEREAS it is deemed necessary and expedient to temporarily close up and stop traffic
on a portion ofYonge Street within the Town of Aurora on Thursday, July 1, 1999 for the July
1st Parade (Canada Day);
NOW THEREFORE THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE
TOWN OF AURORA ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. That Yonge Street (Y.R. #1) within the Town of Aurora be temporarily closed up to
through traffic on Thursday, July 1, 1999 from St. John's Sideroad to Orchard Heights
Boulevard from 9:00a.m. to 11:30 a.m ..
2. That Y onge Street within the Town of Aurora be temporarily closed up to through traffic
on Thursday, July 1, 1999 from Orchard Heights Boulevard to the Industrial Parkway
South and Yonge Street intersection from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m ..
3. That the York Region Police and the Town of Aurora Public Works Department be
empowered to perform all necessary acts during this time period to assist traffic and guide
motorists towards existing adequate detour routes and to allow the safe movement of the
parade on Y onge Street.
4. That the Region of York be requested to approve the temporary closure of a portion of
Yonge Street at the time and location specified in this By-law that is under Regional
jurisdiction.
5. That the provisions of this By-law shall come into force and effect upon the fmal passage
thereof and upon the approval of the Regional Municipality of York with respect to the
temporary closure of a portion of Y onge Street.
