BYLAW - Temporary Close Porton of Yonge St. For Parade - 19970514 - 383297TTHE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF AURORA By-law Number 3832-97. T BEING A BY-LAW to temporarily close a portion of Yonge Street within the Town of Aurora for the July 1st, 1997 Parade. WHEREAS the provisions of Section 24 of the Public Transportation and Highway Improvement Act, R.S.O. 1990 c. P.50, as amended, authorize councils of municipalities to temporarily close certain highways for a period not exceeding seventy-two (72) hours; AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to temporarily close up and stop traffic on a portion of Yonge Street within the Town of Aurora on Tuesday, July I, 1997 for the July 1st Parade; NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the Town of Aurora ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: I. That Yonge Street (Y.R. #1) within the Town of Aurora be temporarily closed up to through traffic on Tuesday, July I, 1997 from St. John's Sideroad to Orchard Heights Boulevard from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m .. 2. That Yonge Street within the Town of Aurora be temporarily closed up to through traffic on Tuesday, July I, 1997 from Orchard Heights Boulevard to the Murray Drive/Edward Street intersection from I 0:30 a.m. to I :00 p.m .. 3, That the York Region Police and the Town of Aurora Public Works Department be empowered to perform all necessary acts during this time period to assist traffic and guide motorists towards existing adequate detour routes and to allow the safe movement of the parade on Y onge Street. 4. That the Region of York be requested to approve the temporary closure of a portion of Y onge Street at the time and location specified in this By-law that is under Regional jurisdiction. 5. That the provisions of this By-law shall come into force and effect upon the fma1 passage thereof and upon the approval of the Regional Municipality of York with respect to the temporary closure of a portion of Y onge Street.
