BEING A BY-LAW to
temporarily close a portion of
Yonge Street, within the Town
of Aurora, for the 200th
Anniversary of Yonge Street
Celebrations 1996 Street Sale.
WHEREAS the provisions of section 24 of the Public Transportation and Highway Improvement
Act, R.S.O. 1990, as amended, authorize councils of municipalities to temporarily close Provincial
Highway Connecting Links for a period not exceeding seventy-two (72) hours;
AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to temporarily close up and stop traffic on a portion of
Yonge Street (Highway Number 11), within the Town of Aurora, on Sunday, June 2, 1996, for the
Street Sale;
NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the Town of Aurora ENACTS
AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT Yonge Street (Highway Number 11), within the Town of Aurora, be temporarily
closed up to through traffic on Sunday, June 2, 1996 from Murray Drive/Edward Street
intersection to Aurora Heights Drive/Mark Street intersection from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00p.m.
2. THAT the York Region Police and the Town of Aurora Public Works Department be
empowered to perform all necessary acts during this time period to assist traffic and guide
motorists towards existing adequate detour routes and to allow the safe movement of
pedestrian traffic on Y onge Street; and
3. THAT the provisions of this By-law shall come into force and effect upon final passage
hereof.
