BEING A BY-LAW to
temporarily close Yonge Street,
within the Town of Aurora, for
a Santa Claus parade.
WHEREAS subsection 207 (1) paragraph 44 of the Municipal Act (as amended) authorizes
Council to enact by-laws for the temporary closure for community purposes of highways under
Council's jurisdiction;
AND WHEREAS subsections 24 (3) and (4) of the Public Transportation and Highway
hnprovement Act (as amended) authorize Council close temporarily highways that impact upon
the King's highway for a period not exceeding 72 hours;
AND WHEREAS subsection 29 (3) of the Public Transportation and Highway hnprovement Act
(as amended) authorizes the Ministry of Transportation to close the King's Highway for a period
not exceeding 72 hours;
NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council of the Town of Aurora ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT Yonge Street (Highway Number 11) be temporarily closed up to through traffic in
the Town of Aurora, on Saturday, November 18, 1995, from the Henderson Drive/Allaura
Boulevard intersection to St. John's Sideroad and Yonge Street from 5:30p.m. to 8:30
p.m.;
2. THAT Yonge Street (Highway Number 11) be temporarily closed up to through traffic in
the Town of Aurora, on Saturday, November 18, 1995, from Vandorf Sideroad to Murray
Drive/Edward Street from 3:00p.m. to 7:30p.m.;
3. THAT the York Region Police and the Town of Aurora Public Works Department be
empowered to do all acts to assist traffic during this time period to provide an adequate
detour and to allow the safe movement of the parade on Y onge Street;
4. THAT the Ministry of Transportation be requested to approve the temporary closure of
.the King's Highway Number 11 at the time and location specified in this By-law; and
5. THAT the provisions of this By-law shall come into force and effect upon the fmal passage
thereof and upon the approval of the Ministry of Transportation with respect to the
temporary closure of a portion of the King's Highway.
