OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF AURORA
BEING A BY-LAW to prohibit the
sale of Purple Loosestrife in the
Town of Aurora.
WHEREAS Section 104 of the Municipal Act as amended authorizes Council to
enact by-laws for the welfare of the inhabitants of the municipality.
AND WHEREAS the sale of Purple Loosestrife is deemed to be environmentally
deleterious.
NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Aurora
ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. No person, corporation or partnership shall sell, offer to sell or make
available to any other person, corporation or partnership any variety of
the plant species Lythrum Salicaria (also known as Purple Loosestrife).
2. Any person, corporation or partnership which contravenes the provsions
of this By-law is guilty of an offence and upon conviction is liable to
a fine of not more than $5,000.00 pursuant to the provisions of the
Provincial Offences Act (as amended).
3. This By-law shall become effective on third reading hereof.
