OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF AURORA
BEING A BY-LAW to prescribe the
manner in which electors of the
Town of Aurora are advised of the
date, time and location of polling
for the purpose of the 1991
Municipal Election.
WHEREAS the provisions of Section 45(7) of the Municipal Elections Act
R.S.O., 1980, Chapter 308 as amended, require the Clerk to, in
municipalities having more than 5000 electors, to advise each elector of the
date and time of polling, indicating advance polls and the location of the
polling place in which each elector is to vote;
AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to utilize the provisions of Section
45(8) of the said Act to prescribe that the said notification may take place
in a form other than by mailing or causing to be delivered to each elector a
notice containing the prescribed information;
NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council of the Town of Aurora enacts as
follows:
1. THAT the Clerk shall advise each resident elector of the date and time
of polling, indicating advance polls, and of the location of the
polling place at which that elector is to vote by mailing or causing to
be delivered to the address of the elector a notice of the date and
time of polling and of the location of such polling place, such notice
shall be directed to two electors at that address where the first five
characters of the last name are the same.
2. THAT the provisions of this By-law shall come into force and effect
upon final passage and remain in effect until repealed but shall not be
repealed in an election year later than the 1st day of September.
