OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF AURORA
BEING A BY-LAW to amend By-law No.
3046-88.
WHEREAS, Section 210 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1980, Chapter 302 as
amended, provides that Council may enact By-laws concerning the parking of
motor vehicles operated by or carrying handicapped persons on any highway or
part thereof under the jurisdiction of Council;
AND WHEREAS, Section 210 (150} of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1980, Chapter
302 as amended, provides that Council may enact By-laws requiring the owners
or operators of parking lots or other parking facilities to which the public
has access to provide designated parking spaces for the sole use of vehicles
operated by or conveying a physically handicapped person and for prohibiting
the use of such spaces by other vehicles;
AND WHEREAS, the Municipal Council of the Town of Aurora deems it
expedient to enact a By-law pursuant to the provisions of said sections to
permit handicapped parking in designated locations on public and private
parking lots and other parking facilities;
AND WHEREAS, the Municipal Council deems it expedient to amend By-law
3046-88;
NOW THEREFORE, the Municipal Council of the Town of Aurora enacts as
follows:
THAT Clause 1(a} of By-law 3046-88 be deleted and a new Clause 1(a} be
inserted to read as follows:
1. In this By-law;
(a) "designated parking space" means a parking space measuring at least
4.4 metres in width and 5.3 metres in length for the sole use of
vehicles on which a permit is properly displayed, and identified by
a sign bearing the markings and having the dimensions as shown in
Schedule "A".
2. This By-law shall come into force and effect upon final passing thereof.
