approved in accordance with section 17 of The Planning
Act as Amendment No.lS to the Official Plan for the
Aurora Planning Area •

PART I: THE CERTIFICATION
The explanatory text constituting Amendment No.l5 to
the Official Plan of the Aurora Planning Area, was
adopted by the Council of the Town of Aurora by By-

ning Area which has been adopted by the Council of the
Town of Aurora is hereby approved in accordance with
Section 17 of The Planning Act, as Amendment No.l5 to
the Official Plan of the Aurora Planning Area.

OF THE MUNICIPAL CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF AURORA
Being a By-law to adopt Amendment No. 15 to the Official
Plan of the Aurora Planning Area.
The Council of the Corporation of the Town of Aurora in
accordance with the provisions of Section 17(1) of The
Planning Act enacts as follows:
l. Amendment No.l5 to the Official Plan of the Aurora
Planning Area, consisting of the attached explanatory
text, is hereby adopted.
2. That the Municipal Corporation of the Town of Aurora
make application to the Ministry of Housing for approval
of said Amendment.
3. The Clerk is hereby authorized and empowered to make or
cause to be made on behalf of this Corporation such
application as may be necessary to the Ministry of
Housing for approval of said Amendment and to execute
under the Corporate Seal such documents as may be
required for the above purposes.

AMENDMENT NO. 15
TO THE OFFICIAL PLAN
FOR THE AURORA PLANNING AREA
PART II: THE PREAMBLE
1. Title
The Amendment shall be known as Amendment No. 15 to the
Official Plan of the Aurora Planning Area.
2. Purpose of the Amendment
The purpose of this Amendment is to amend the text of
"Urban Residential" category, Section l+.l+ to permit
group homes in all residential categories subject to
rezoning of the property.
3. Basis of the Amendment
This Amendment is being enacted by Council in response
to the following:
(1) The Province of Ontario has requested that munici-
palities permit group homes in all residential
neighbourhoods.
(2) It is Council's intention that each proposal be
the subject of an application for amendment to the
zoning by-law and therefore be examined on its
merits.

PART III: THE AMENDMENT
1. Change to Text
Section 4.4 is hereby amended by adding the following
at the end of the last sentence "Group homes or other
special residential facilities may also be permitted
where such uses are in keeping with the general size,
appearance and character of the surrounding residential
neighbourhood subject to the property being rezoned to
the appropriate zoning category."
2. Implementation
The policies of this Official Plan Amendment will be
implemented through amendments to the zoning by-law
pursuant to Section 35 of The Planning Act.
